Test Midis

Description:
Just a little something a made up. The Evil Demo sounds like a dungeon or something. They are really short but i think they are catchy. Enjoy! (My first ever midis!)

Please tell me how I can improve!

I agree with the others... there's just not much to these pieces. RetraRoyale said everything on my mind.

They both started out good... but then I'm not sure what happened. But yeah, I agree with what the others said, problems with the beat... Also really short, but repetetive. Keep working :).

The music was interesting. They were short, and somewhat bland. The Evil Demo was neat, but the piano was off beat a little. It think if you put time and practice, you could make some great tunes. The first songs you made were just to get some feel for how a song should go together and what should be played. I would give 3 stars!

Sounds like you were just playing with some MIDI software. There's no real beat, and the notes don't build or release any tension. It's frustrating to listen to. For instance, you start with a slow "1-2-3-1-2-3" beat pattern, and then immediately throw it out with seemingly random notes and an unprovoked change in pace. You are just putting long notes with short notes.

You really need to learn to keep a beat. It certainly isn't catchy, and the tune isn't saying anything. Or rather, it's saying "High, Low, High, Low, something else... music is just notes in order." It is dry and emotionless.

This is blunt criticism, so don't take it personally. If you want to make good music, you have to know what it is about music that makes it enjoyable and create that. You might enjoy this demo because it surprised you with what you can create. Other people can't feel that from your work because it's not a shared experience.

How can you improve? Keep making music. Keep practicing. Listen to music and really think about what makes it good or not. And don't be afraid to fail -- you might come to understand failure, and understanding it is the first step to avoiding it.
