The Hylian Phoenix OST: A Quest for Hope

Description:
Composed about three years ago for Robin's The Legend of Zelda: The Hylian Phoenix, "A Quest for Hope" was a Hyrule Field Theme meant to encompass the essence of past Zelda games as well as a distinct darkness to match the new storyline. Despite some occasionally blocky orchestration, the endeavor was successful overall and felt like a natural addition into the Zelda universe.

The process of composing this one was driven my looking at the overworld map while messing around on the piano. Somehow I settled on the key of D♯ minor, which I don't recommend writing in. I suppose you do get cool chords like E♯ half-diminished seventh, but that's about it. (I think Nuvo ended up transposing the melody down a half step when he used it as a motif in his contributions to the game. I don't blame him.)

As of writing, this song will exist in some form in Robin's Inferno, but with the Zelda references removed.

Enjoy! Posted Image

A catchy theme and a sense of urgency, but at the same time freedom and exploration. The song is quite long too. I like how there's Twilight Princess parts in it :)

I don't think it's as great as Fate's Footsteps, but it's excellent anyways.

The melodies are great. The piano section is wonderful, it inspired me to write a full song a while back. This song is very powerful and deserves nothing less than a 5.

It's good, but I don't find it anywhere near as appealing as anyone says. It just... doesn't really interest me.

You've got so much going on in this one that I can't really give you any constructive criticism! I wish I could write something as careful and smart as this, rather than pounding my listener's ears with rambunctious notes. I can barely tell where the major chords turn into minors, and where the minors turn into majors lol (piano segment being the exception). You've got a lot of invisible, not readily apparent things about this song that keep me from approaching it with the critic's perspective. The subtle things definitely matter.

Basically, I have nothing but massive raving for this song.

This is amazing. Definitely fitting for almost anything. Fits perfectly for huge overworlds as well! Well done.
