Erasing my mind of that, this is an effectively arranged lament that would allow players to lament any hero enduring pain and suffering. I think it's a little too repetitious though.

This song seems to be meant for a cutscene, possibly of one where the player feels regret for something. An event happened that could have been prevented? Plan didn't go as well as it should have? These two scenarios sound like this song.
