Information
Made for a two week quest contest, Vault of Souls is a relatively short (3-4 hours) quest filled with lots and lots of scripting. Scripted items, enemies, and more. With a full 8x8 overworld, 3 levels that can be done in either order, and two endings, Vault of Souls should provide a few hours of good entertainment.

I'm playing this quest.
It's a shame that the quest is unpolished. I like the idea, it has a better concept than your past quests. The quest has freedom and I like to freeze rivers, creative.
But... is nearly unplayable. The balance of difficulty is unfair, there are a lot of custom enemies overpowered... example, the blue wizzrobes. There are various rooms with 5 or 6 wizzrobes and lots of bubbles >.>
Why don't you update it? It can be a cool miniquest with a bit of balancing and other changes.

Russ, is there any chance of you sharing your custom subscreen code for the rest of us? We still lack a scripted subscreen in the DB, after all, and no documentation for making one.
I'm going to give this game a try as soon as I have more than a single hour to myself, merely for the fact that it is so wildly different and I would like to see what you achieved.

Yep, this is definetly a Russ-quest! A deep story and overly long dialogues, spellcasting-based gameplay, scripted enemies, tough difficulty, original music, text-boxes hiding whats going on and the typical walkability bugs.
Though, sorry Russ, this quest is really hard for me to play because while the overworld is nicely designed with lots of secrets it seems, Link starts out like really weak and theres no way to find any of these heart or power upgrades without getting some dungeon items it seems. I appreciate how the quest is not linear but its also hard to know where to go then. I only found a forest dungeon that has way too hard and annoying fire enemies. In the desert I can't find any way to continue because every possible way is blocked off by lock blocks and the mountain area always kills me with it's bombing enemies. Don't know what to do at all.
It would be nice if there was a completely optional and easy "beginners" dungeon somewhere. Please think about that idea, for a update, it would help a lot to get used to the game at first.
