Information
Made for a two week quest contest, Vault of Souls is a relatively short (3-4 hours) quest filled with lots and lots of scripting. Scripted items, enemies, and more. With a full 8x8 overworld, 3 levels that can be done in either order, and two endings, Vault of Souls should provide a few hours of good entertainment.

This is a ridiculously neat and inventive little quest. To put this together in 2-weeks is pretty remarkable just in itself. The fact is, the balancing issues are minor and I don't believe it's way too difficult at the beginning - Nothing some minor scripting tweaks couldn't fix. I actually got stuck a few times with where to go next but that was my own dumb fault.
Seriously top-tier contest entry and many fun in-game moments also. Great job Russ!

Mixed bag here. The scripting and presentation is great, but it lends itself to being too far out of the realm of common sense a bit, and the tutorials need to have a way to skip them after previous runs. Also, couldn't find Level 1 (seems to be a relative problem with these entries, people really hid it, and part of being a good designer is to hook your person early). I say 3/5 here, but if polished and redone could lead to some real nice possibilies, so don't be discouraged.

Excellent work! This quest is very fun to play. I loved using the new upgrade system and the new weapons and spells. It's hard at the beginning, but once you get used to the game it works and it's addicting like hell! Many creative ideas were used, as the 3 dungeons and the overworld are very well made and it's hard to believe this was done in just two weeks!
I have seen both endings. The story of this game is really great, as always Russ! Feels very epic when you've got to decide wether you want to seal the vault or not and the final bosses are 'almost' as awesome as in The Darkness Within. So yes, you got my 5 stars there. If you were to make a DX version of this quest, then it sadly can't get any more stars than this one, sorry.
