Trust the Monkey
Description:
Now this is a quirky one.
Imagine you're happily exploring a bright jungle. The hot sun peeks through the canopy of trees overhead; the smell of the damp foliage is fresh and pleasant. You're slightly lost, but comforted by the immersing sounds of the wild around you. Just then, you hear the hooting of some nearby monkeys. These monkeys seem to know the way out of the jungle—the path you'll need to take eventually—but you're not ready to leave, for this is a personal paradise.
The instrumentation is quite simple: the base instrument is a piano, mirrored by an acoustic bass and a marimba, which drives the melody. A deep windpipe instrument provides grounding, a sitar assists for three measures, and a simple drum rhythm backs everything up. Orchestration is always the most difficult part for me in making music since I have bad intuition as to what sounds work well with one another. With that said, I feel I was successful this time around. The song has a nice vibe.
I welcome your own interpretations, so please do not dock me if your visualization mismatches mine. Only a freak would think they way I did.
And a final note: this is the first song I've created with this particular MIDI set-up, so instruments may sound imbalanced compared to my past pieces for some listeners.
Alright, I'm done blabbing. Enjoy.
