Piano Acquired BGM
Description:
This piece is an homage to one of the website's most prolific composers, rexlaninetales, and his catchy "Acquired" series of pieces.
I sat down at the piano a month or two ago and fooled around with random chords and melodies, a process I often go through when I'm bored or if I want to find musical inspiration. Well, inspiration did strike, but unlike similar moments in the past where I found a unique collection of notes to build a song off of, I came across a passage I recognized from one of rexlaninetales' works. I loved the original song and I loved how it sounded on piano; that was all I needed to add onto it and adapt it as I desired. You're either listening to or about to listen to a direct translation of the piano version I came up with.
Staying true to how I formed the piece, this MIDI file is piano-only. I was considering creating a sitar version with sharp, clicky percussion, but I didn't want to intrude into territory rexlaninetales knew so well. After all, I'm not trying to imitate him as much as take my own route guided by his music as inspiration. I detached this rendition of the song from its original purpose, so I don't expect you to use it in the same way as you would the works it's based off of.
And on that note, I also offer him an apology. I attempted to ask him permission to release this song, but I did not hear back. I want him to know that I am very thankful for his work and that he can request removal of this piece at any time if it offends him.
Aye, this is too much text, not enough tune. Please enjoy the first nicklegends remake of a song.
Credits:
Rob, also known as rexlaninetales — He composed the original "Armor," "Item," and "Weapon Acquired" pieces on the website from which this song is adapted; how can I not credit his fantastic work?
Nobuo Uematsu — One measure of the song not taken from Rob's work reminds me of the Figaro Castle theme from Final Fantasy VI.

I've been listening through a bunch of MIDI's because it's that time in the quest making process where I need to get together all my MIDIs, and honestly this is the best one so far and I don't want to X it out to listen to the next one! I think it will definitely make a great theme for an Ice dungeon!
