Secrets Submerged

Description:
After my first submission, "See the Sea," I wanted to create a totally different piece of music—something darker and more mysterious. 192 days later, I finally realized that goal, but in doing so, I found myself back underwater. This is "Secrets Submerged," inspired in part by the underwater theme in Donkey Kong Country 3 composed by Eveline Fischer. It does have a different vibe than my last piece in that it feels deeper and somewhat sadder.

While composing, I always imagined some sort of shipwreck on the ocean floor ready to be explored, but you can make anything of this song as you wish. After all, if what I thought was a water piece last time another thought to be the theme of a lonely girl in an abandoned castle, I don't want to limit people's imaginations. :P My primary experiment was using really deep strings and layers of melodic parts, and in that respect, I think I was really successful. While I can't say the same about the whole piece, I spent an excessive amount of time working and tweaking so it should sound at least decent. Enjoy it. :)

Credits:
Eveline Fischer — The instrumentation of her underwater piece gave me the idea to use the really deep strings and whining violin, amongst other things.

Would I be correct in describing your style similar to that of David Wise's?

At least with this particular song. It's atmospheric AND with a defining melody, but the melody is mostly confined to the ambiance. Increasing the focus on melody would drive the song into the opposite direction. Overall it's fantastic in the way it functions!

What an awesome MIDI. This is an excellent piece from you. I'd give you 10 stars, but unfortunately the scale only goes up to 5.

Ahh... I loved See the Sea... and I love this one... and I've got the PERFECT spot for it too... an underwater dungeon! :3
Thanks...

Personally, I think you've got your lonely girl right here.

Very good! Yes it's good for a water theme, but anything mysterious will do. A lot of work must've been put in this.
