This had some potential but it was ultimately wasted with questionable design. Such as for example, accidentally grazing a bottomless pit tile attempting to do a jump because it's right next to the platform's edge.

Even worse, in some of the areas, it's hard to determine what is and what is not a bottomless pit. An indication, like a lava or water pit, similar to Mario 1, would have certainly helped. It'd also help if the ground and pit tiles weren't close to each other in some of the levels, as punishing the player for merely touching the pit tile trying to make a jump seems unfair.

I always take away 5 stars from any review if an actual game wants you to exploit a glitch to continue.

Sucks, this was going for a 5 stars for being better than mario quest.

Oh my... This demo... These spikes... And everything else.

Here's a video I did of this demo:

This is actually the same as the quest you posted in the database, but more levels. That's kinda cool, but the quest is still horrible.

Much of my critique can be found in this video, and some in the earlier two as well. Honestly, I find this has some potential, despite its inability to mimic Mario gameplay perfectly. However, much of the level design is either haphazard or boring. Also, using an exploit someone discovered on the spikes as a gameplay mechanic is not a very good design philosophy at all, especially since the spikes are so inconsistent and can damage you when you're not moving or not damage you when you're moving sometimes.

NO. Fix that immediately. Do not include that as a gimmick at all.

It's also very boring to look at graphically, it needs something in the background to make it at least slightly more interesting. There were odd palette choices later on, and just completely odd music choices throughout; it feels like you just grabbed random popular Mario music and threw it in without too much discretion.

Please fix the poor choices, make it less random and arbitrary and janky. It will probably never be a great quest, simply because quests made entirely in sideview are a large challenge to pull off well, but at the very least it could be a decent quest. It just needs to come together more smoothly.
