Over a year ago, ZeldaClassic.com held a contest for an official fourth quest to be included in the release version of Zelda Classic 2.5. Because I was slow to get the news, I had little time to submit a version myself, yet I still wanted to try.
However, I found a few of the rules for the official fourth quest contest to be a little restricting for me. These were mostly aesthetic issues, such as graphics and music, but some involved gameplay elements as well. Fortunately, by continuing on [View Full Description]

Being an avid fan of remixes of the original Zelda, this one was quite fun to play, and very worthy for a sort of "fourth" quest. I liked how you used the classic layout of the dungeons and mixed them around some, and the challenge in this is quite good, especially when you get to Level 5 and beyond.
The only reason this doesn't get a 5 star from me is that the difficulty spike can come so suddenly that the inexperienced player might be really off-put by it. But this is a minor quirk from me...any avid Zelda player will love this quest!

I'm going to give this four stars because as a remix, or an unofficial "fourth" quest, this is quite fun to play. And I agree that Level 9 is something. I spent hours cracking that level. Your dungeon designs are indeed solid and the challenge level is high, especially if, as I did, you skip the white sword and go from wooden to magic. Biggest gripe -- WAY too many door repair charges. Burning and bombing on the overworld become pointless becuase everything is just a rupee or door repair and they cancel each other out. Putting that many door repair charges in a game is just punishing exploration.

Well Done. All the dungeons, and the new locations of levels and items in the overworld, were everything I thought they'd be and more. Easy early, and then the difficulty ramping up until it really started hitting hard in level 7 and beyond. A challenging and bewildering final level that felt satisfying to conquer. Long live good old-fashioned Zelda 1 style of quest designing.

Recycled overworld but with brand new dungeon layouts based on the classic maps (eagle, lizard, etc.), the interior makes good use of the newly added tiles. All the regular zelda items and levels are found on uncharted locations. The last level is like a hard-boiled positively frustrating maze, don't expect to finish it in just one sitting. It was an entertaining dungeon to explore.
