Nice quirky quest. I like that there are a lot of levels that can be done in pretty much any order, plus the 100 room challenge is a nice touch.
Some items though are too hard to find, and there are some nasty continue bugs, but overall this is a very fun quest.

I'd probably give it 4 stars, but I'm going to give it five to compensate for the ridiculously unfair low ratings. At first blush this quest, with it's unusual graphics (which grow on you), and unique music choice may seem like a kiddie quest, but, play further, and you'll find a heck of a challenge and a classic-style quest that has depth and competes with any in the database. The 100-room challenge is a pure, heart-pounding test of battle skills!
It's not perfect. As noted, the overworld map (the overworld is maze-like), fast scrolling, whistle warps, enabling all these things would make it more playable. Some of the items and dungeons are too well hidden and a few more hints would be nice. There's too many screens of...nothing. But, overall, it's a lot of fun to play, and isn't that what matters most?

Pros:
- Nonlinearity that actually works.
- The clever "dual dungeon" concept.
- Atypical power progression. Sword and ring upgrades are rare; expect your bow to be your best friend. That's unusual, and I like it.
Cons:
- A quest that discourages thorough searching (by rewarding it with almost nothing) can be OK. But please don't punish players who pick up on that by throwing in a very well-hidden MANDATORY item at almost the very end!
- I'd suggest an in-game hint that the red candle can burn some things that the blue candle can't.
- Starting with 3 hearts isn't bad by itself. What's annoying is that + no whistle warping or other convenient way to access any healing (potion shop or the ONE "fairy" location).
Neutral:
- The graphics. I adjusted to them; you will too. Note: the reskinned Goriyas are made of win.
Overall:
3.5 out of 5. I'll say 4 because I think the low ratings based solely on "horrible" graphics and music are overly harsh.
