This quest is 20% too annoying. There is challenging, and past challenging is annoying. Just enough to suck the joy out of playing it. You know the very first obtuse puzzle of finding the sword ? Yeah its all like that. From a slightly offset block that you trip over every time you go into a dungeon room, to enemies and puzzles that respawn every time you enter. Limited resources from killing enemies and grass. Precision timed puzzles you have to attempt 100 times. That puzzle in dungeon 3 with the disappearing path and switch you have to hit with the boomerang was my breaking point. Nope.

The graphics look great and the play control is solid.

I played this for the Quest Club. The short version is that I feel it stumbles in some key areas, but it otherwise still quite a good quest with some absolutely wonderful things it does with 2.10.

Full Review.

Wow. First review in over six years. Anyway, I started this many years ago but for some reason never finished. I finally did. Played in 2.53 without a bug. It's showing its age a little bit but it is very, very well done in many respects. There are puzzles, especially in the later levels, that are as well done as any I've seen in ZC. Not block puzzles (those are mostly pretty easy and ordinary), but puzzles involving the wand, boomerang, mirror shield, etc., that are incredibly diabolical, make you think for several minutes about you can possibly navigate the room, and then you finally figure it out and pat yourself on the back! Those puzzles, combined with some very clever level design (I was stuck in Level 7 for a long time), make for a good experience.

I know Pineconn hasn't been active in many years but a DX version of this could be amazing. Add custom bosses, make it so certain puzzles stay solved, add a few shortcuts here and there, make the cloud area a bit less monotonous, and lose the stupid room in L9 where you are supposed to be able to see where to go from motion on the floor (you can't unless you have supervision), and this could be an all-timer. It's very, very fun and well designed. Also, I like postgame content, but don't understand being given super helpful items that you don't get to use. Oh well. It's still a five-star quest.

The dungeons are good, but the layout on them could be a lot better.

EDIT: Rased it to a 4 since I didn't play very much.
The overworld does have a issue of being a strait line if I remember correctly, I did, however, enjoy the puzzles.
