This is an excellent script! I might use it in my quest.

I was able to use the item message functionality to FINALLY fix the character switching I'd been working on. Previously I'd been using shops to change characters and grant abilities. With this (and my discovery of message codes like "/16/(item#)") I can now collect a dummy character icon item and use message codes to switch to a character immediately with all their abilities at once, AND/OR select and use their icon via subscreen to prompt the message string codes and instantly change into a given character complete with all abilities. I figured out how to do it without scripts using screen messages, but it just doesn't feel right for the overworld. Your script here really helped this noob devise a character switching mechanism for my dream-game. My Xelda beta thanks you.
