When I first tried the original armageddon quest, it just felt like a harder version of zelda, with the screen design overall lacking and me being unable to complete any dungeon. I gave up. However, the Ideas were incredibly epic, so I decided to give this remake (one below the original) a try. I was not dissapointed. The screen/dungeon design had improved, and it was actually possible to complete. To me, armageddon Quest Forever is to Armageddon Quest as A link to the past is to Zelda 1. 5 Stars for giving us 5 hearts before going on to another dungeon. Absolutely amazing.

This is incredibly addictive. Every single challenge is designed to kill you many times, yet you make just enough progress to feel that with the right combination of practice, strategy, and maybe a lucky item drop or two, you can get through it. Every item and heart piece you obtain feels like a major win. You'll get frustrated, you'll tear your hair out, you'll yell at your screen, but damned if you won't keep trying. That's the hallmark of good design. The puzzles and challenges are so creative. I died 284 times. I probably strategically F-6 continued 1,000 times. I drank more potion than I did beers in college (OK, maybe not). I'll never play it again, but I can honestly say I love this game.

Not for everybody, know that going in. Challenging, unique fighting sequences and at times just mean and vicious....but you definitely will hone your skills if you can master this puppy!! Access to maps makes things a little gentler, especially in the last few dungeons.
