I started this quest before I first joined AGN back in October of 2000.... It was the first quest I worked on, and the last I'll work on... When it started it was BS-Style all the way... Then I started editing tiles, and added every feature I could possibly think of... then I stopped working on it for a long time...like six months...

When I got a craving to work on it again, I came back to it, and 1.90 had just come out, I had to completely upgrade the quest to make room for the new items like the boots and the hookshot... I wanted to have all the possible features.... I came close to finishing the quest, but put it away for a while....

About eight or so months later, Dark Nation has put out 1.92 build 163 (or whatever it was) and I get a craving to work on it again... I made so many edits and changes to this damned quest that I think it can't be anything but good at this point, so I'm determined to finish it... I still had much to do, four more underworlds, and quite a bit of fixing up....

And I lost all motivation... I didn't want to see the quest die. Damn i'd worked on it so long I wanted like hell to finish it.... but I knew I never would....

At the time JayeM was beta testing for me, and we would get to talking about the quest a lot.... and I knew she was very interested in the quest, but I felt so bad for not being able to finish it... So I figured Since I like her quest building style, and I certainly trust her judgment implicitly... I decided to give the quest to JayeM, because I know how much life she'd be able to breathe into it...

That was a few months ago... two I think... and she's done extraordinarily well with it... adding almost all of the new features from the new beta, developing the remaining dungeons that needed to be finished, as well as expand on the overworld a bit and add new sub levels...

Now the time has come for her to need a beta tester, and I'm doing it myself. Bigjoe has also been beta testing, and has done a terrific job. He also helped out by adding new BS Enemies created by VEL. Special thanks to him.

Anyways, I am truly amazed at how solid a quest this really is. I'm proud to have worked on it for so long, and I'm proud to have JayeM as it's other parent. I hope you'll all enjoy this quest as much as I do.

Eckland is a really good 1.92 quest. It's got excellent dungeons, and the overworld is a blast to explore. Almost every aspect of 1.92 is used to its full potential here, and therefore the quest really holds up well even today.

Personally, I have a couple of issues that hindered my overall enjoyment of this quest. For one, around the half way point, you have to buy a good number of the late game items in order to progress. Since you are able to just take them all at once by just buying a gold rupee over and over again until you have all the money you need, you're able to have nearly every end game item in only five minutes. Getting all these items so quickly was very unsatisfying; if these items were placed in the dungeons or hidden around the overworld for you to find it would have been a more fulfilling experience. Also, because you get these items so easily, the remaining dungeons become too easy. But thankfully, these dungeons are so enjoyable that this quest is still overall really fun to play.

Despite these two issues, Eckland is still an Eckcellent quest. Highly recommended! 8/10

Let's see.... I griped for the release of this quest way back in the day, so I suppose I should eventually get around to rating it. Heh.

The thing was great until it got late in the game, when I ran into shops with items, some essential, that were so expensive that it slowed down the gameplay.

On one last note, I found Level 8, but I never did find where Level 7 was. LOL.

The mismatch of graphics is an eyesore in my opinion. I like the overall flow of the quest, but mislinked warps and several bugs made the experience less of a whole. The simplicity is nice, but a little more complexity couldn't hurt, just give clues as to where to go next.

It's a very solid, if straightforward, quest. Good use of the BS graphics, solid gameplay, it uses the items well, and whatever bug prevented one from finishing has been rectified, at least if you play it in 1.92b183.

While it's close, it's not a five-star epic in my mind. For one, it's a tad on the easy side. The dungeons, other than the last two, are not even a little confusing, and I had low single digit deaths without even trying. It would be an easy zero-gamer for a skilled player. It's got a few bugs, but nothing game-breaking. I guess my bottom line is that it's a very good 1.92 quest, but I don't understand why it's rated quite as highly as it is. That's not to say if you want a solid quest you shouldn't play it. You should.
