When you start a game, you will noticed that everything is of simple design with minimal variation in colour. You are fighting on a backdrop of Graeco-Roman ceramic designs. You have found a Calix Mundi, or Chalice of the World, and are experiencing the legend that the designs on it tell. Upon completion of each level, you shall find another Calix Mundi, at which point you shall experience another tale told by the new chalice. I am compelled to say, however, that these 'legends' are wholly fictional and only represent Graeco-Roman mythology in an allusive sense.
There will ultimately be two quest files, the one with English text and the other with Latin. At the moment, however, all strings are in English, with most names in Latin. All names will remain Latin in the English version.
At present, the file contains two unique bosses across four Calices (levels). The first two boss-fights feature Ianus, the two-faced Roman god of beginnings and endings. In Prima Nox (level 1), you will fight Ianus' younger side; in Primus Dies (level 2), he will turn around and you will fight his elder side. The boss of Secunda Nox (level 3) and Secundus Dies (level 4) is Arachne, the Greek goddess of spiders; ensure that you stock up enough arrows to defeat her!
This is not and will never be a long game. My intention is to create a short, fun quest and a simple side-scroller tileset--and perhaps work in some studying for my Latin course.
