Wow, two weeks in a row with six entries! That's awesome cause I was kinda worried we'd be less active in the spring/ summer. Glad to be wrong.

You know, I really don't think that Gerudo woman should be wandering around in a strange place like this...

)-( Marchland Malady )-(: Not gonna mince words here, I find these wall tiles incredibly ugly. They melt into each other at the corners, have really unclear perspective, and the heavy dither used is not doing them any favors. I don't think this kind of wall set can work at all in a top down perspective without hand drawing every single screen so the perspective skew is applied evenly. See this wall set by Feenicks with an example of archways that give a better sense of perspective, but at the expense of not being tileable. Generally though, when making a tileable wall set you want less large details as it's very hard to hide how they break perspective. Usually you'll see tilesets use pillars and archways as sparsely placed detail tiles that usually go further towards the center of the wall where the skew is expected to be less intense. Corner tiles absolutely cannot have any large decor on them because they need to meet at an angle. I'd also avoid using the single thickness black line creases for your corner tiles. When other tilesets do do those they tend to have a gradient for the crease lines that blends with the texture of the wall behind them.

Hari: Love the overhead jump down in this one. This is a really clean, LttP feeling dungeon screen. Don't have too much else to add.

Zeron: I look at what's going on here and I'm horrified. Should this puzzle actually be functional, I just want it be known that you're a monster. :P

Rambly: It's peak. It's also peak. Have I mentioned it's peak? Fine day for a peak picnic. A peaknic. I love the palette in this one and the general vibe. Was torn between this one and Twilight Knight's but ultimately it was that smooth background that sold me. It's meeting all of my standards.

Twilight Knight: I know this place! This was one of the more memorable side areas in the original NTAEL. I always loved the concept of a catacombs with just comically large piles of gold lying around everywhere. It's definitely gotten a glow up since then. In like a literal sense. The gold is brighter. Shiny!

Moon: This is a beautiful screen but I actually can't see most of it without squinting. I hadn't really considered that on previous screens for your quest, I don't think it was this bad of an issue for me on all of them, but I'm certainly hoping it won't be an issue when I play the final thing because I am loving the dark and gloomy atmosphere of this quest.

Gotta agree with Moosh on all counts, except that Twilight Knight's stands out above Rambly's for me.

For SotW definitely think Moon's is just a bit too dark to see much- a problem that being able to move around in-game definitely would solve a lot of, but can't move around in a screenshot

Didn't realize how dark the screen would actually look on different screens. I looked at it on my phone and yeah... its barely visible lol.

Here's the undarkened version for anyone curious. I'll see about tweaking the palette to hopefully address the visibility problem.

With full bias, I voted for Moon. I love this area so much. Personally, I can see the original screenshot on my PC and phone, but I can see how it could be a problem for others.

Want to say this week has some fantastic entries, good work!

If every dark room in the quest uses the `. . . Transparent Darkness` flag, you could consider using a gray for the darkness color to lessen it's intensity as well. That would have a very noticable impact on non-transparent dark rooms, but if you have none of those then that's not an issue.

I'll make a more substantial post soon, but a quick question, because I'm curious:

Has anyone found the hidden pattern in my screen?

More substantial post being made now. Hi.

)-( Marchland Malady )-(: Mixed feelings on this one. I think the vibes it's going for are cool, but I'd probably echo what everyone else has said about the execution. I think Moosh said everything I could have possibly said about it. I kinda like the colors, though.

Hari: Similar feelings to last week's boss screen... except for the part where I miss my cute moth friend Mothula. Not a whole lot to say here; it's just a solid screen.

Zeron: This one's all right. The puzzle terrifies me. If I were braver and smarter, I'd try to actually solve the sliding puzzle... hey, anyone else tried that?

Rambly: It's funny how nicklegends said he voted for me last week because I know how to incorporate detail without cluttering a scene, and then I go ahead and submit this the very next week. Anyway, all the details serve a purpose. There's an "answer sheet" at the bottom of the post, if you're curious. This screen had a lot of sentimental value to me, but honestly, when I submitted it, I figured it wouldn't do super well... really surprised it did as well as it did! I really appreciate it! By the way, I took that picture that makes up the background... over 20 years ago, in 2005.

Twilight Knight: Really cool screen. You don't see this sort of weird opulent vibe in ZC all too often; I already mentioned this on Discord, but it reminds me of Stage 9 in Super Castlevania IV, kinda. It's really neat. One of my favorites this week.

Moon: Really, really cool. I love the vibes of this one. I know it's hard to read for a lot of people, but I feel like when you're actually sitting playing it, you'd adjust to it? I think more people should do stuff exploring the darker end of the color spectrum like this.

So yeah. Uh. Here's the answer sheet I said I was gonna provide for my screen.
