Hi again! I am here  and have with me an update to my middle Hyrule from the other day as seen HERE.

I'm currently trying to make the eastern area look more accurate to A link to the past all the way thru to Echoes of wisdom and I think I'm getting a good layout so far, let me know what you guys think! ^^

For better context on how I'm making this; I'm using Aseprite and drawing on a separate layer for my layout plan then I go in with the tiles and match it and edit as I need.

Here's the portion of what I'm currently working on:
wip-area.png

And here's some progress shots:

#1: Small tweaks between this and the first post but it's mostly the same.
NES-Hyrule-wip6.png

#2: I moved the northern peninsula down along with the green cliff stick out so they were aligned with the rock field better.
NES-Hyrule-wip7.png

#3: I realized I was making certain areas way off scale and so I blank slated the eastern temple entrance to more be more faithful.

And the current state as of now next to the barely touched castle:

And Hyrule connect to the Death mountian:

Now you may obviously notice there is the beginning of a town close to the eastern temple, which yes isn't in any Zelda game but this will play into the story I'm crafting and the current state of Hyrule and its decline after the golden area.

I also want to imply that the marshy domain of the Zora from eow has now dried up forcing the Zora to the shoreline and more narrow rivers, hence the desert north of the temple and why there is still nature near the temple but almost no water besides what remains in the lake.

The town was inspired by the these pieces of art.

I know my idea's rather ambitious but I really love Z1 and how simple it is yet fuels my creativity since its such a different view of the world of Hyrule, a more bleak and unforgiving one.

Let me know what you think about it and if there's anything I'm just not noticing that should be added or you think should be changed, I'm more then happy to change pages if I need to. I won't make updates such a big post after this just what I've changed and maybe a few progress shots but I felt it necessary to explain my crazy town idea a bit and since this will be what I work on for the time being why not let you all in on how the sausage is made.

Thanks for reading :]

Meowsome stuff you're doing there! The simplicity of Zelda 1 was also my motivation to make "Hero Mode" and "Lost Levels" with overworlds that are either Hyrule-based or with only original tileset. When you're done with the whole second overworld part, would you allow for me to re-create it in my "Ultimate Challenge" quest which has about 50 dungeons? It would be so much more fun to have double the space to hide all those dungeons in, and also make a Lorule (Dark World) copy of it. :)

Thank you ^^ and yeah Z1 and just early NES just has the same feeling to me that people have for source.

I would love if you made a quest with it and I'd love to make a Lorule version to go with!! idk if I'd have the ability I'm still figuring out the screen stuff between maps but to have a playable version would be everything! I am wanting to basically make a full alttp sized map but that's very ambitious and idk how well Zquest could handle that since it would be basically two and half more maps worth of content.

But yes when this current version is done you'd be more then welcome to go ham with quests. I'd love to have it done in time for the anniversary so then others can also make stuff with it in celebration.

I can't wait to have it be playable, getting to share this already has me more motivated for a project then I normally am. It's great to know you think it feels balanced I'm not the best with that kind of stuff.

I cant wait to see how your quest turns out.

I'm digging the premise of this project, it's always cool to see interpretations on what's beyond the borders of Hyrule!

I am really into the downfall timeline and what's happened to hyrule after all this time to get to here, I'm planning a whole video about my timeline ideas to go along with the map and the 40th! Idk if i'll make it a quest in time but hopefully walkable.
