So this is about my first post but not questions this time I'd  just love to hear what you guys think about my overly ambitious map idea.

For context; The idea is to just extend the NES map as if Hyrule were below death mountain the whole time and you weren't just stuck in this sardine tin of verticality, I love going from spawn to the woods or ocean and just wandering but going north means progress to me more then I'd like so why not a whole old Hyrule from decades past just rotting away like the classic concept art had which FEULS my drive for NES Zelda more then anything, even the adventures of link/a link to the past art was just the perfect meld of grim dark pulp fantasy and that giddy early shounen anime feel.

The current photos are of the more recent work in progress and I apologize if the huge full colour pages seem confusing there just my way of telling myself where forest and rocky terrain should go.

Please feel free to give idea and critiques on how I can improve my map making skills and maybe I'm missing a cool spot you think could fit in here from eow or albw [idk those ones as well] but they take place in the same map and so I'm keeping them in mind for rough layout along with botw and totk's NW area.

CREDIT TO:  Ambient Silence's Cambria 2.55. For small details I just cant get with the default; like old links house and stuff i have planned!

Here's my map by itself, very much still early draft.

And here is it connected to the Zelda 1 map!
NES-Hyrule-wip5.png
[Source of map is from spriters resource, I'm also using there way of separating pages as I find it helps me on one page at a time.]

Just realizing I could make the lower paths looked blocked with big boulders from ClassicXD instead of just putting trees like the lost woods leading to the grave yard. I've not used any tiles from that set yet but will probably, I really like the authentic look and trying to work in the limits had in the 80's [Minus the map size of course xp]

My small list of location ideas are;

- Hyrule Castle/Castle Town.
- Links House Interior.
- Zora Domain/Cove in the east.
- Lake Hylia now to the north of the river for sake of interaction.
- The old Blacksmith shop maybe now repurposed.
- Eastern Palace.
- Faerie Cave.
- And more silly cave dungeons maybe with mini-bosses but that's tbd.
- Lost woods with old Deku tree as a smaller level maybe even a dungeon???
       - Maybe even have a dead Deku dungeon inside the lost woods.

Let me know what you think ^^ Sorry I'm very word vomit with how I present stuff but I'll try to get better at it.

[EDIT: How could I forget in the bottom left I'm adding the outskirts of Haunted Grove]

Thanks for reading :]

that's pretty neat! Are you running with the NES graphics all the way? If so I'd definitely be curious to see places like Hyrule Castle Town created in that style.

Yeah that's my idea exactly! I'll use only some selective sprites from cambria 2.55 and classicXD to make sure I don't just have one bush or one building over and over in the places that deserve more of a detailed touch, like an above ground dungeon.

If you know alttp enough you should kind of see the beginnings of castle town and the castle at the back but that will be probably one of the last pieces so I can give my full attention. Let me know if you want to see anything specific. ^^

[EDIT: I'm gonna extend hyrule town one page back and have the moat and back wall on the same page so i can add  more town room.]

HI and thank you ^^

I really like the idea that while you're playing Z1 this has all just been sitting there waiting and collecting dust since the golden era since we know most of Hyrule is in a very bad spot by this game.

I just made an update post actually if you wanna check it out! Update
