A nice break beside a river in the rainforest.

I feel compelled to comment this time around.

 

Twilight Knight - I actually quite like the whole vibe goin' on here. I like indoor tree areas, and this is certainly no exception!

 

Matthew - It's been a while since I've seen a Zoras Domain look as striking as this one in ZC. Of the quests I've played, generally most Domains I see are blue caves sets converted into vaguely being townish. This is very refreshing, and cool looking.

 

Mr. Redead - A solid looking pretty forest shot. I think your aptitude for nice vibes in DoR is quite solid, and I'm always excited to see how you've grown to this end. This is by no means your fault, but the transparent layers do unfortunately mess with the colors a bit, which is ZC's fault mostly, but the day ZC gets true transparency is the day a shot like this flourishes. Keep up the good work!

 

Zeron - I've never seen you in SotW before! Welcome! This palette is very pretty, and there's some quite nice vibes going on. I think the subscreen is definitely on the confusing side, but I also feel like you're going for the vibe of older games where you can see an empty boss health bar when you're not in a boss room, which to that end, is cool. I look forward to seeing what you do more in future SotWs! This is probably my 2nd favorite shot here.

 

Ultimately, I went with Matthew's. It's got the most going on both in terms of vibes and freshness. All great stuff this week though.

Thank you for the welcome! I decided years ago that if I ever joined PureZC, I would submit to SotW, so now that I have, I'm starting with highlights from old projects. Also, thank you for the feedback. I'm glad that the ambience comes through.

As for the subscreen, you guessed the intent correctly. It's a rushed but creative mess from a old project presented without context, but I figured it should be included at least once.
 

 

For the shots,

 

Twilight Knight: Solid interior entrance. Excellent job making the area look organic without impeding gameplay space.

 

Matthew: I don't have much to say, you continue to make fantastic GBZ style screens. I particularly like the brick detailing.

 

Alex/AGWD/Mr. ReDead: Great ambience. It reminds me of the aLttP lost woods in vibe, but much closer to modern iterations in visual quality.

 

Zeron: looking at it, I think I forgot to texture the grass.

I went for Matthew this week. The palette is lovely; I like the color variance in the water; the scene is beautifully detailed without being busy. This is about all I could ask for in a shot.

 

My runner up would be Twilight Knight. The use of pitch black on the borders focuses the viewer's attention on the inner contents nicely. It seems like we may be in a tree based on the brown and green palette. If so, it's themed well.

Amazing week, I found it very hard to choose. I chose Matthew in the end. I can't wait for Shadows of Hyrule.
