Hot water does NOT freeze faster than cold water. The temperature might go down faster at the start very briefly, but the temperature going down will get slower the colder it gets, which cancels out the temperature going down fast at the start. Keep in mind: hot water has more heat to start with, so it takes more cold to make it freeze than water that is already cold and has already lost a lot of extra heat.
