Well, two months later and I'm back into the ZQuest groove. Well, "the groove" as in playing with a few things, saving and quitting. But I actually have some things that I started to take into action for levels 4 and 5 of the quest. These will more than simply taking the bad designs of the original, copying it into Koten and saying "Job well done". Much like I remade level 3 from scratch with in my opinion better design (credit to Kurt91 for the idea), levels 4 and 5 are going to be redone. However, these aren't going to be done in the same style as level 3. I'm actually going to be making something new entirely that isn't a simple reskin. My plans are as follows:

Level 4- No more boring NES style dungeon everyone hates. Well, if it wasn't designed as poorly as it was, it would at least be in the "okay" threshold, but a long enemy gauntlet to get to the dungeon items with no shortcuts if you die isn't exactly good game design. Level 4 is actually going to be what I would consider the "backside" of the mountain. That is, it will be a fully freeform dungeon. It will still have the same items, but their usage will be better executed. I will likely include a cave system as well so it varies between being inside and outside. How they'll be linked up is to be determined. Regardless, I am confident discarding the original dungeon and making it anew is better.

Level 5- Similar to level 4, I also plan to make this dungeon freeform. In fact, I was thinking this could be its own island of sorts since the original wasn't even an island. Also, I have a bit of an interesting name for level 5. Formerly, it was called "Tropical Island", yet it was just an NES style dungeon with a slew of its own design flaws. The new name will be "Trouble in Paradise", and it'll be anything but a tropical getaway for sure. Probably the biggest design flaw of the original was discovered by TK8305 in his Let's Play of Adam's Quest where he found a way to avoid using TWO keys. That's right; you can avoid using two keys if done right. The new dungeon will be more open-ended and non-linear. In addition, I will most likely be borrowing (with credit given) Lunaria's turtle enemy as one of the enemies you fight. One thing that will be different is that this time, the Magical Sword WON'T be available this early. However, enemies will be balanced to account for that.

Speaking of the Magical Sword, it will get a brand new Adam's Quest Redux exclusive dungeon to house it called "The Fighter's Guild". This will be a more NES style dungeon, similar to the Sand Dune Temple. If you complete it by besting the guild's champion, you will be rewarded with your shiny Magical Sword, complete with full power sword beams and dealing twice the damage of your White Sword. Swing with the A button.

That ends this transmission.

Glad you found your questing passion again.  Best of luck in finishing your redux.  If it ever sees completion I may give it an LP.  (Should you choose to ever watch me again anyway.)

Nice to hear this is coming back. I hope Level 5's music stays too, because I love that song :P Those new ideas you have sounds neat too, and I look forward to seeing how this would end up.
