Maybe make it explicit you need to hit with magic first? The in game text seems to imply that the only thing that works on him is magic. And from the first few fights, I believed it.
On night two of trying to beat this dude footnotes:
- replenishing mana is less of a concern knowing that sword strikes work after you hit him with magic once. It'st still kinda annoing
- it'd be great if the text updates froze battle action- cause as is, I can't really bother to read them given the live combat happening
- still not sure how to fight this thing- if I hug the bottom areas it's safer to dodge attacks, but the mouth opens less often
- for each match against the boss I still need to grind for 1-5 minutes. When I get a book of magic early that's fine, but when it takes a few screens, it annoying. If the alchemy remedy cured magic 100% instead of just an insignificant 8pt that would help alleviate this I feel.
- I feel lucky if I can make it to the boss with over 100 life due to having to restart at the start.
- Suiciding very often because HP gets below 60 with no damage done, and have to repeat the process of getting to boss/replenishing spent resources
- Maaaan it's easy to go from 60 life to 0 given getting trapped in a corner or other happenstance.
& I hope it was clear from the last post, but you really need to make it clear that the first slot in that puzzle can be left empty, or remove the extra # slot completely. There's no way to know as a player that you can leave the blank slot in front of the combination blank. It's counter-intuitive, and leads the player to thiink that they have chosen the wrong ingredient, vs. the wrong combination.
&& I should note despite my responses, this is a really fantastic game you've cobbled together. Please keep the good work. You're great at this.
