But wait! You may be able to save your quest. You know the .qbd files that are created whenever you save your game? Simply rename that file extension to .qst and open it in ZQuest. You may be able to save your game yet.

If Zquest corrupts a quest file, ALL timed saves and backup files are also corrupted. Happened once to me with sequel to LSiCV and I ended up with 20+ corrupted files, none of then cannot be opened - Zquest crashes on attempt to open any of those files. All other quests are fine.

That's odd though, because one of my quests became corrupted in the past and I could open it by renaming the extension.

I would think it depends on how soon you catch it. If ZQuest crashes right away, the backups should be fine. If not, they're likely to get overwritten and have the same problem.

What you're talking about doesn't sound like corruption, though. It sounds like invalid data that wasn't caught. It was recently discovered, for instance, that ZQuest doesn't truncate long filenames correctly when importing sounds. That might cause it to crash immediately, but it may not. If it doesn't, it might start crashing later on due to some other change.

You should tell me when these things happen. Your quest might be recoverable. Even if it's not, I'd at least like to know what's going on. Bugs that aren't reported aren't likely to get fixed.
