A brief pair of videos featuring two of the main bosses in the quest.

Also I'll just use this thread for various updates/videos as the quest is almost done.

EDIT:

I'm bad at keeping secrets, so have two more. This time, optional bosses that grant you cool scripted items if you kill them! You can challenge these elemental spirits whenever almost whenever you like (provided you have the correct tablet to summon them), but you may not be able to beat them at that time! Luckily, you're free to come back later when you're stronger.

Now that's some pretty neat stuff. Looking forward to playing this when the quest is finished.

I love those bosses, particularly the way that you have the Turtle Rock boss damage itself.  Very, very nicely done.  What's the function that makes the screen all wavy when the player is hit by the first boss?  Is that a built-in feature in ZQuest?

Now, about that classic tile set....

Yeah, I fixed it. Youtube links are a derp.

Screen->Wavy!

This quest uses the Instrumentality set by Moosh, already on the DB if you're interested in it.

Very happy to know about the "wavy" effect!  It makes my life a lot easier to find out it's built-in.

And, no, my reference to the tileset was derisive.  Such great coding and spiriting skills on display with those bosses -- fantastic design, interesting, and well-drawn --  and yet the tile set is based on classic?  Seems like such a shame.  Could be a lot prettier.  Clearly, you've got the ability to do that.

But, hey, maybe I'm just salty that no one seems to use awesome tile sets like Dance of Remembrance or anything anymore.

Man, this thing has a name now? I don't have to go on referring to it as BushRush, Shadow of the Bosslossus, or 2weekslol?

...I'm gonna keep calling it Shadow of the Bosslossus.

Trinexx and gleeok all in one. I honestly think you need lower the frame-rate on the tail.

For the bongo bongo type boss, I feel it would be better if the AI was shifted a bit. It's a little bit predictable but still will be challenging to the average player.

Can't think of any way to improve the fire boss, it's too perfect.

Ice boss is really good too.

Yeah, the Trinexx video is old. The tail was bugging out when that was recorded, as was Hera's death animation. Hauntrock is widely considered the hardest of the 3 main bosses by the majority of my testers, don't worry. I think the video sells him short if anything. :P

(Hera and Pyron also look much easier than I'm told they are in the videos)

Why? So it'll be even more harder? Trust me, that boss is hard. Like, really hard. The ball and chain attack can get you a very quick and easy game over. I'm saying this because 95% of all the enemies do at least 1 heart of damage, and you cap at around 15 hearts. That boss alone does 2-3 hearts per hit (at least), and has a whopping 4 phases. Honestly, if anything, it's too hard.

  • Speaking of things relating to the Umbra, I'm actually buying Bayonetta in Smash 4 right now.
