Despite the name of the quest, I have removed many items which see no use for.
Yes, I've decided to be quite minimalistic in terms of items, basically only using the items you find in dungeons, plus a few more. Of course, the title refers to the name of the in-game kingdom, and the dungeons themselves.
Basically, in the end, the only usable items available are:
Sword, boomerang, bombs, bow, candle, ocarina, letter, hookshot, hammer, and potions.
The candle is currently the only item which uses magic. Is there really any point in having magic in the quest? Or should I make scrolls use magic as well? Thoughts?

If the candle is useful enough, using magic is still quite justifiable.  Make Manhandla vulnerable to it, and you'll see what I mean.  You'll never superbomb one again.

Lower the damage the candle does to wood sword damage or lower, and set a cooldown on it or something.

Ignoring Manhandla, the candle has very few uses, being limited to just about only secrets and dark room (the latter of which are few and far between).

I think that making scrolls use magic is a reasonable thing to do, but I'm not sure exactly how that would work. If I could, I would also make rings use magic (there's an interesting idea!), but I have no idea how to do that.

Making rings use magic is actually really simple.  Just add a magic cost to the ring's data using the item editor (on the "Action" tab) -- rings that cost magic or rupees are built into the engine, no scripting required.

The way it works is whenever you get hit, the ring will reduce the damage as normal but you'll also lose that much magic/rupees in addition to whatever health you lost.  If you don't have enough, the ring will be disabled (Link's color will even change from red/blue/gold back to green!) until you fill up again.

Cool!

Any idea how the other rings work in terms of magic (charge ring, whisp ring, whimsical ring, etc)? Is it just the same (whenever they take effect (speed up charging, protects from jinxes, 1HKOs an enemy, etc.) they take up magic)?

I'm not sure about the other rings -- honestly I've never really used them in ZC, so I haven't fiddled around with their settings to see if that kind of thing might be possible with them or if it's just the protective rings that can work that way.

I'll have to poke around with the settings for the others and see what's possible at some point -- it's kinda fun to make really bizarre items sometimes (like a sword with beams that do negative damage... yes, that's actually possible and it actually heals enemies, or even bumps their HP up above the maximum level if they haven't been hit with anything else beforehand.)

If you want to, go ahead, but if you don't have the answers now, I can have a poke around myself. Don't feel like you have to check for my sake.
