My laptop died yesterday.

Fortunately, the only thing I lost was maybe a few hours worth of stuff, and the HD looks recoverable.

Now, unfortunately, until I can get a new computer:

1. I am running Windows XP
2. I cannot record
3. I only have a 150 GB Hard Drive. :(

So for the next month, I will be working, but I won't be doing any mass promotion or anything. There might be private alphas though once I migrate everything from ZC to this computer.

I will be keeping this XP computer even when I get my new computer. I do like a working XP system, and it's good for things like SFR and old versions of ZC.

Once again, I apologize.

That sucks man.  I lost my old comp back in Jan and was able to get a new one pretty quick thank goodness.  Hope you'll be able to get a new one very soon.  >.<

I suggest putting Parted Magic on a USB pendrive, or on CD/DVD, and using that to copy all of your datum from the laptop HDD to another dest, before you try to do anything else with that drive. PM has a huge array of datum recovery, and FS recovery tools, that will help extract anything you may have lost, or thought you had lost. It can even recover files from a drive that you format (barring 0-out formatting).

Otherwise, sorry to hear that. I've demolished many-a-laptop, and learnt to buy 'ruggedised' systems.

My data is fine, just locked away until I get Windows 8.1 and a dual boot most likely.  I just checked it out before I trashed it.

I didn't "demolish" it, it lasted 4 years.  The heat shield went honestly.
