Greetings people. This update, I will be talking about how cruel Hero Mode for this quest is going to get. Like in most other quests and Zelda games that feature it, Hero Mode is regarded for being unusually cruel and unfair to the players (eg. 4x damage in A Link Between Worlds). Deal with it, because this quest's Hero Mode is going to not stop throwing punches at you until you beat the stupid dang thing with your deathcount in the hundreds. Here's some insider information on what Hero Mode is going to be like:

  • Hearts no longer drop from enemies. You only way of healing is through healing tiles, which are evenly distributed through each area.
  • Your energy gauge no longer replenishes on it's own, but Stamina Fruit (which restores it to maximum) replaces Hearts in the drop table
  • Pickups dropped from enemies give just 1 of their respective items
  • Your maximum HP is halved, any Heart Containers in the quest are replaced with Heart Pieces (2 per container)
  • The bosses become bullet hell-type bosses. Ah, sweet Touhou.
  • Z1 Bosses (including Aquamentus) show up everywhere, like the Diamond Patra in the screenshot. Have fun dealing with death.
  • The shield will be halved in effectiveness.
  • The map no longer works. Have fun getting lost

The Hero Mode version of the quest will be distributed alongside the normal version of the quest and will be accessed by selecting the quest in the file select menu. I wonder how many people are going to be masochistic enough to touch this Hero Mode after they are done with normal mode? I want to see people like OUCH! and Gleeok get owned by the many surprises this mode has that I have not revealled. :superevil:

I agree, hero mode/ 2nd quest should test the limits of a player

Hard to tell if stuff like this is aprils fools or if people actually consider it a good idea.

I normally don't joke around, it's obvious if I am

edit: I think it's a good idea but may be beyond my skill level

It's not a good idea or a bad idea. It's just a thing that exists. Not that it's possible to tell whether this is an April Fools day joke on April Fools or anything, but this doesn't seem like the sort of thing that anyone would consider to be a funny thing to prank people with.

Yay for Diamond Patra. May it bring tears of pain and despair to all that challenge it. :D

~~APRIL FOOLS!~~

This update contains no actual content, aside from the plans for a Hero Mode (which will be far less sadistic than this proposition) and a little tidbit of actual information thrown in amongst all of the joke plans. There are several hints I left it to lead into a joke:

  • The inclusion of the Diamond Patra, which was created for a joke
  • Bullet Spam bosses - generally considered to be lazy and bad design, and I know better than that.
  • Z1 boss spam - same reason as above.
  • No map - In a Metroidvania like this, this is just bad design. Especially when normal mode has the map.

Happy April Fools.

How about turning all damage combos into Instant Death combos. Just touched that innocent cactus in desert? KA-BOOM! All hearts are GONE instantly! Even Nayru`s Love & Gold Ring won`t help. Like in MegaMan!
