So something that I haven't seen done in a completed ZC Quest yet, is the ability to choose the player's gender.

Shaboom, done.

So because of this, I had to change Erick's name to a unisex name, of which his/her name is now Quinn.

I felt my quest needed more of an avatar like character, so choosing genders fit this, due to the fact that the protagonist could fit any gender, because of the story.

I'm guessing this will only affect player sprite. Or is there any other significant difference here?

Well, I'll also be using string codes to change pronouns if that counts. That said, I don't really know if I'll be putting super major differences. I might, but I'm unsure.

I think adding genders is a great idea, and I wish more games allowed for it, or multiple playable characters in general.

I've found as a rule that the more character customizability you have, the more unique branches of dialog and things you'd have to have to accommodate the variations. So, you need to have the differences between the characters be very minor, have a very basic story (making the character differences only visual), or do a lot of work to provide a unique experience with each character. I opted for the third approach when I rewrote all the story scenes for Hitodama twice over. ;)

Anyway, I know you're going for mostly a visual difference and am not expecting any big differences in dialog or anything. Jetbox's question just got me thinking about this stuff.

Or the other way could be just making all of the strings be 100% gender neutral, although that could conflict with grammar or in some cases, have certain lines be too long or too short if you keep in he/she.

I'd probably be the female character just because.

Glad I'm not the only one who likes to select female characters as well as male.

I really like the gender idea you got going there. I think this will add something new, fresh and unique to the quest. I'm really looking forward to more progress on this :D

So this is kind of like Pokemon, right? It's a good idea. Everything I wanted to say has been said already xD
