It's been a very long time since I showed anything new, mainly because I didn't feel like I had any new material. But today I realized that the map I just completed has a lot of diversity, but still one main theme: Rebonites.

The area I'm about to show is the former kingdom of king Charles, who is a rather non-important character in the game. First of all, he's dead at the moment you play NTCC and second: he didn't have much power. That's why the hordes of Rebonites managed to conquer this area first which I tried to make very obvious.

This rocky path leads to the ruined castle of Charles. As you can see, skulls are piled up to show that Rebonites conquered this place. This used to be a lush road with many merchants passing through.

This is the main road into the kingdom. The bridge was actually destroyed by Charles to delay the Rebonites. Sadly they are excellent climbers, just like Nargad needs to be if he wishes to get past this canyon.

This is the one area unaffected by the Rebonites, known as Lion's Peak. The reason it's still intact is because the town is blockaded. Still Lion's Peak is very famous for it's grand tower, which allows one to see all of Krelaila from the top.

This seemingly peaceful forest is the heart of the Kingdom, but it actually has very nasty traps beneath the bushes and many enemies lurking around. The area is hard to reach for the Rebonites, since they are too tall to go through the tree trunk passages.

Now finally, the most dangerous area is the Rebonite fortress. It is surrounded by death and despair, definitely not a happy place to be. The fortress graphics were hand-drawn, so I hope you guys like it.

I like subtle storyline details. Take that broken bridge for example. It's things like this that take storylines outside cutscenes and dialogue. People should strive to do this kind of storytelling. Good stuff. :approve:

Darn, those are excellent screenshots Twilight Knight! :D I'm curious about the first two shots, as they demonstrate ruined areas as you intend them to be. I'm actually interested in your last shot, it somehow brings inspiration for me, yet I can already feel the tense atmosphere and that it's dangerous to go there... Looking forward to this man, bravo and here's a thumbs up for ya

Thank you very much guys, this really motivates me to work more on this project.

NTCC is full of sidestories, some which are entirely optional. My personal favorite of these is a storyline where you restore a landscape which is ruined, to a lush oasis. This is why I love screen state carryovers.

The Rebonites are supposed to be an extreme deadly species, so I have they have that effect. They are seemingly unstoppable. Of course, only Nargad can save the world.
