Things have gotten a little unbearable lately, and so it is with a heavy heart that I have resolved to kill myself. No, no! Don't try to talk me out of it. It's the only way! I must kill myself, over and over again to alleviate the frustration of repeatedly respawning inside of walls and other generally unwalkable combos. It will be boring. It will be repetitive. But unfortunately I see no other way of knowing which of my checkpoints actually work than to seek out their general locations in-game, and to commit repeated ritualistic suicide upon those mystic spots to see where I respawn. May God make my next lives easier and more eventful, rather than condemning me to eternal purgatory inside the mortar of some cobbled rampart. (sighs). I hate my life.

What seems to be the problem ALTF? Does this have to do anything with how NES Dungeons/Interior ones work or what's wrong?

Not really sure. I died in a couple of different places, and I respawned either in a different room than I was supposed to, or in the correct room but inside of a wall. Easy enough to fix, but annoying as hell because I have so many places to check. Some of the places are working out, others I just forgot to enter in a continue screen or place the warp return point as I made them. Then there's that rare area where I can't tell what's going on. Not so much an issue that needs any sort of major learning experience before I can tackle it, but still a lot of grinding away at the stuff I've already made, though instead of killing enemies for XP, they'll be killing me for me to experience. The fact that whenever I try to test the game I get killed and stuck in a wall was just a minor annoyance the first few times, but after a few dozen it becomes unbearable. And so to keep it from happening again (at least when I'm legitimately testing the game), I have resolved to kill myself over and over again until all the faulty continue points have been found, and dealt with. Not really a major breakthrough or addition, but seeing as how it'll take a while, I figured I'd post it as an update so people knew what I was working on. As for why I hate my life? Maybe I just identify with the character too much. That's bound to happen when you spend enough time working with them, and even moreso when you're left to make up their personality on your own. Nintendo made Link a "link" to the player for them to basically possess and implant themselves into, so it kind of feels like I actually am just throwing myself into a moblin spear or a blast of wizrobe magic after a while. Or it could be that when engrossed in a tedious task like grinding respawns my mind goes overboard on the BS Philosophizing. Either way, it is a process which is both boring, and depressing.

So far I've already been doing this a few hours, and I can safely say I've died more times than I did in Megaman, Contra, and Battletoads combined. And that's saying something! Especially when you consider I'm only about a fifth done with this thing!

Actually, I just remembered a concept I had really, really, really early on in development which could potentially eliminate around half the deaths! Basically, anywhere Link dies that's not in a dungeon he respawns in front of a statue of his likeness in Hyrule Castle Town. If he dies in a dungeon though, he respawns on top of a Triforce insignia etched into the floor. The second part I had down from the beginning, but the respawning next to a statue would require a script. Well, scripting may be boring, but it's better than killing myself over and over. Wow! Talking this out with myself really helped!

Thanks me!

Your welcome me. Anything else?

Think I can borrow some money?

Sorry. I don't have anything on me at the moment.

You know, we are the same person. And I'm pretty sure that I've got $20 in my wallet right now!

Yah, you did. But I stole it to buy drugs.

No you didn't!

How do you know?

Because we don't do drugs!

Yes. We don't do those drugs. But stop and think about it for a moment, why are you breathing right now?

Are you threatening me?

No, haven't you been reading your own post? I'm sick of killing myself! I've been doing it all freaking day! What I'm saying is: Don't you have a cold?

Yah.

Well then how are you able to breathe right now?

Oh. Right. Nevermind then.... So, how are you feeling?

You know what? You're an idiot.

I know you are! But what am I?

Aye! Aye! Aye! I think I may have just remembered why I don't talk things out with myself more often!
