Ridley is finished as a functioning boss fight. Gotta say I'm pretty proud of this one, though he isn't nearly as big as Kraid and isn't even as big as his normal sprites (that's right: I resprited him down to 2x2). He hits pretty hard though, especially that serrated tail of his.
I'm done enough with his hideout that I can begin work on Tourian proper, and a very small preview of Chozodia. Did you know that fireball shooters can be rigged to summon enemies? It's right there in the shardstorm wiki, if you take the time to read it. I've used this to recreate the rinka laser rings found in Tourian, to great effect (though they home in on you a little more.) Also, Metroids are very terrifying: they move fast, and have a max homing rate. You won't have to deal with a whole lot at once, but you do need to act fast to kill them, and if you don't have the ice beam (which both stuns them and is the only weapon they are vulnerable to), you are screwed. Thankfully, if you pay attention after the Ridley battle you should get an idea of just where to find the ice beam.
Geez, we're already halfway done. soon the NES Metroid-length of the game will be playable. Consider also that Tourian's extreme linearity makes it much easier to construct. Oh, and the boss is a completely stationary brain in a jar. Even easier!
