Hello all! It's been awhile since I've posted an update, hasn't it? Welp, I think it's time to change that! It's nothing too big, but I wanted to take some time to discuss a few changes I've made.

I believe at one point I had made a post about the Slime Turret or something to that effect. For the longest time, I always felt that the item wasn't very useful compared to the other tools Link had. Actually, it just wasn't a very useful item, period. >_> I've been toying with various ideas for items to replace it. Finally, I've settled down on an idea that I think can be fun and useful for both puzzles and combat.

Introducing the Goo Shield!

On the surface, it doesn't look that remarkable. It really isn't at a glance - it simply reflects most projectiles. It's the mirror shield, essentially.

However, there's a bit more to this shield than meets the eye. First off, unlike most shields, it's not entirely passive. You will need to use the item to equip it. While you're holding the shield up, you will not be able to use any other items, including your sword. I know it sounds useless. However, keep in mind that the shield is made of goo and sticks to things really well. As such, you can do stuff like this!

Here we have a block. Without the shield, it's just a plain old block. However, with it equipped...

...We can move carry it around. I realize this doesn't translate the best in the screenshot form, but there's only so much that can be done. ):

This is more or less the gimmick of the item. There are some objects that you can move around with the shield, each with their own effects. Some will explode when hit with fire, some will hold down buttons and so on! I may tweak the thing further for balancing purposes (mostly on the idea of not being able to use items with it, but we'll see), but that's the basic idea of what to expect from the Goo Shield.

Now, earlier I teased at a bomb item that shot out what looked to be rupees. Since I'm sort of scrapping it, I'll spill the beans on it. It was originally a rupee grenade that, when thrown, would explode into 8 more rupees. They would spread out and explode as well. It would have cost either a specific counter (1 rupee grenade)OR 5 rupees and a bomb. It would have been more cost effective to buy the rupee grenades once you factor in the price of bombs and the 5 rupee cost for each one you threw.

Ultimately, I scrapped it for a few reasons. First, it was really buggy and become a little unweildly at times to work with. The other is that I never really found the item useful for puzzles, which is a big issue for me. There was also just merely factoring this thing into just about everything I designed, since it had an arc to it. I wanted it to be able to hop over certain objects while not being able to with taller objects. This...proved to be more work than I felt it was worth. I managed to get the effect, but it looked bad most times.

Basically, there were too many problems so I scrapped it. Will I try it again in another quest? Maybe. It'd take a lot of tweaking though. Instead, you will receive the Flash Bomb! I won't be going into the specifics of it today, but suffice it to say that it'll have potential to be a very powerful tool in Link's arsenal, even if it is limited by its own, separate ammo counter.

That's all I really have to say for now, though. Once I'm happy with the above, I can go back and polish up the older dungeons. (And extend the first two dungeons a bit - I feel they could use it. >_>) Maybe I'll write about that when the time comes!

Either way, see you all in the next update! Here's a small teaser until then. ;)

Clever idea, but I think I might be in the minority on this one.

Are those Lumens? Have they acquired firebar technology?

Anyways, I'm gonna miss the Slime Turret, but the Goo Shield seems pretty neat too. The rupee grenade I don't think I'll miss as much. It was a cool item and all but I don't really remember using it. It was more flashy than useful.
