Hey, everyone! ![]()
Sorry for the long delay. School can sure keep me busy. ![]()
Plus, it didn't help that I was in limbo between two computers; I finally got my new desktop (and by "my" I actually mean "my family's") and haven't worked on my quest since I wasn't sure where the official copy was (between my old CPU or my thumb drive that I used for moving all personal data to the new CPU). Not to mention I had to re-install Zelda Classic on my new computer, but it uses Windows 7 and I haven't noticed many issues with using the version downloaded on the old computer.
My new computer is much faster now! The old one was using an ol' Pentium 4 processor; the new one has a more recently-released processor, so my internet (and most everything else) is moving over 2x faster.
Anyways, enough about me.
Back on topic:
Update:
I've had some assistance from one of my beta testers testing the new area, as well as the rest of the quest. Being back "online" with my quest, I recently corrected all the errors that he pointed out (though I haven't tested all the corrections yet)... That is, except for one thing I don't know how to fix which I've listed at the bottom of this post (for text continuity reasons). Any help you can provide with this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Anyway, I recently re-tested the quest file up until entering level 7. I've caught a few bugs myself, one of which is a grammar error in the introduction (a missing "the") .
I would be pretty embarrassed if I hadn't caught that; I'm kind of a "grammar Nazi", and having someone find this after I'd released the quest would not make me feel good!
So, I've fixed all the bugs/errors that I've found so far and just have about half of the way to go. Or at least it seems like level 7 is the halfway point. After getting the flippers in level 7, you are free to go anywhere in the whole 16x16-screen overworld! That's quite a lot to cover when only a little over half is reachable without the flippers. On top of that, there's level 8 (the haunted lighthouse) with multiple floors in it, the entire underworld, level 9 (with a couple floors, BTW), and a few special levels in the underworld as well. ... I don't know, maybe level 7 is a little before halfway!

It won't be long now before the release date is upon us, so keep your eyes peeled!
I was intending on making a trailer before the release date, but... I think that might require a whole lot of time to make and the quest might be released before I even get the trailer done. All I've done so far is record some of my play-throughs. ... I'm thinking trailers probably should be done when you've still got a ways to go but the quest is only mostly done. You can comment on what you think of this, what you think I should do:
1. Should I:
A. Still finish the trailer before the release date;
B. Finish the trailer after the release date, whenever I get it done; or
C. Forget the trailer (because I haven't really started to put it together and because it's not really needed anymore now that the quest is almost out)?
Other than that dilemma, here's my problem with my quest (not a show-stopper, but a serious concern nonetheless):
2. When on an "Interior" type DMap, the space bar can be used to view the map just like as if it were an "Overworld" type DMap (playing the quest in version 2.50, not 2.10, keep in mind). Why is this?
I have a couple areas that are Interior because of keeping permanent secrets permanent, but there are many screens on that map that are visit-able in other DMaps and don't look good when viewed from that DMap. It works fine in version 2.10, but in version 2.50. I guess when it converts to 2.50, there are certain rules missing from 2.10 that automatically get checked, but I'm not certain on that... ![]()
