Yo!

This is the general thread to talk about, ask questions, criticize, smash and generally defame Operation Righteous Cowboy Lightning (you can say good stuff too).

Ask questions away!

Give critiques of my screen design (the cactus placement looks iffy to me...)!

Main topics I've been thinking about include:

Should the beta be public or private???

Who wants to beta test (be warned the game is not for the faint of heart by any stretch)

How can I get people to play this crazy game?

Is any one hype? If not I WILL bring out D1 and Prog

This topic is now go...

This is my quest. The thing is, I don't like feeling pressured to work on my project. I like to work on it at my own pace. But at the same time It's gotten to a point in development where I want to show people it exists. I feel like if I had a project with my quest's name on it suddenly people expect stuff from you like updates, announcements, and 24 hour dedication. But I'm making this more for myself than others.

What is this??? You'll see when the demo comes out. No promises when though. I'm planning on including the first three dungeons of the quest. Also I'm still kind of nervous on whether or not to have an open demo. Most people would classify the genre of this quest as a "challenge quest" sort of thing. Most people hate challenge quests. :P Any advice?

Also I think I might start posting pictures once a day or something. What do people think?

I would say, that public is best, in most cases.

Who wants to beta test (be warned the game is not for the faint of heart by any stretch)

Does that imply hellish difficulty, obscene/objectionable content, disturbing imagery (including colour use), or???

How can I get people to play this crazy game?

If naught else, Kusoge has thus far, proven that people will play anything. I don't think you need to force anyone to try it, but having deep details on what to expect, may be wise to allow people to decide with some wisdom, if they want to play it, or if it;ll make them weep.

Is any one hype? If not I WILL bring out D1 and Prog

Sorry, that must be an American slang term that I don't know. In fact, that entire statement is a jumble of random words, abbreviations, and a hexidecimal address.

Zoria, you really amuse me  Thanks for the reply!

The quest is hellishly difficult. To defeat it requires a mix of:

Raw reaction speed

"Military" Precision

Thinking! Lots of thinking!

A knack for puzzles and codes

The ability to not be fooled by slight of hand

This is basically a new genre of challenge. I'm trying to make the quest where if you don't think about what you're doing, you will die: a lot. The quest also isn't exclusively based around combat situations. There are many puzzles which are unlike any puzzles seen before. I want a quest that will really challenge your intellect. Don't get me wrong, skill in combat is still involved, just not as heavily as in most "challenge quests". This quest is kind of my reaction to normal Zelda quests; I've gotten tired of playing the same thing over and over. Most quests are so mindless. You can skim through them on autopilot without really thinking. This quest will get you to think (or be punished for not thinking).

You are definitely one of the people I want to play it the most. This game is basically a mix between that maze I made and the challenge of Liberation of Hyrule (without some of the annoying, overbearing segments). Or that's what I'm aiming for at least. Fingers crossed that it will come out well. The main point of the demo is to polish off what really needs to be fixed. I might send you a demo ahead of time to gauge how hard it really is. I think it's pretty darn hard and I made the quest soooo....

The quest is hellishly difficult.

Aaaaaaaand you have my attention. :P

I do love me a good challenge. I'd agree with Zoria that you should do a public beta, but my reasons for that are entirely selfish. You have a challenge, I want a challenge, but I'm not the best with jumping into beta testing stuff completely blind. So I'd like to get a taste of what this quest has to offer without any major expectations other than to give it my best shot. Then maybe if I find it enjoyable and not too over my head difficult, I'd be willing to test later builds behind the scenes.

This actually looks promising though.

I wouldn't mind public betas. I've been actually looking forward to seeing your project for a while now and it looks interesting from what I can see.

I guess it will be open beta then!

I'm glad some people are looking forward to the quest! Now to E3. Screw making your game. This week is a religious holiday for gamers.
