I'm starting a new project soon, and I have a slight issue as far as graphics are concerned. The quest is going to be built in a 2.5 version (not sure which yet, probably a more recent one), and is intended to be fairly serious. The quest does NOT feature Link as the main character, nor will it follow a zelda-esque storyline. Overworld and dungeon mechanics will be similar, however combat will be completely revised.

My issue here is, I have absolutely no idea what tileset to use for this. I'll have some temples and such, and hopefully a high-ish level of detail involved in the graphical aspect of the game. However, since the game takes place before humans walked the earth (no, this isn't about dinosaurs), I'm having trouble choosing a tileset to fit my needs.

TL;DR- I need a high-detail tileset filled with magical stuffs and serious visual elements. Suggestions?

(I'm not asking anyone to build a tileset, just for someone to point me in the right direction.)

Just how detailed are you looking for? Most of the high-detail tilesets are unfortunately lacking in that natural scenery department.

My recommendations:

Lost Isle (may be disorganized, but it can makes some stunning wilderness and caves. See this video for some good examples.)

Pure Rememberance

Poth are based on PTUX , if I remember correctly.

I'm liking Pure Rememberance. It just seems to be... Missing something. Not sure what. However, there are plenty of high-detail outdoor items, so I can probably make it work. Thanks!

I'd say DoR but that doesn't seem to suit what you need. But I don't know...

Pure Rememberance is also a really good tileset. :)

Well, my partner in my next project seems to be thinking DoR as well. He says it's serious enough for sure, and it's not nearly as "cartoonish" as the others. I'll have to modify the tileset pretty heavily, but It comes with the project, I guess :P

Also, if I do modify it to the extent that I could call it an "update", or even a whole different tileset, it'll certainly be submitted to the database.

The FireBird tileset is coming out fairly soon. What about that?

There's a decent chance that I may convert to that as well. It IS a bit more cartoonish though, and I'm not sure how well it will work. Especially with the one-tile high doors. My main character is PLANNED to be 2 tiles tall. Which I guess can be fixed with secrets instead of doors.

You might want to wait for Firebird to be release in this case.
