I really liked the beginning of Promised Lands, but seriously... what's with the platforms in the first dungeon that appear and disappear? I got past it one time and then died and now I can't do it again. The first room wasn't so bad but then it got cray-cray. Maybe if it wasn't in the first dungeon I would keep at it, but if that's what the first dungeon is going to make me do then I don't know if I'll want to continue. And why doesn't the candle light the damn room? Seriously, so mean. Watch me be the only one who couldn't do it with ease. I think people are going to complain that my quest is too easy, lol.

EDIT: look at my avatar's face and you'll see how I feel about disappearing floor tiles. XD

It is a quest that, while not extremely difficult, is still a tiny bit tougher than the average ZC quest. I can't help it, I get bored playing something that doesn't challenge me at least a little bit, but maybe you'll like to hear that the difficulty curve is not very steep. It starts tougher than your average quest and gets a little tougher in the later levels, but level 8 is not 8 times harder than level 1, for example.

These floor tiles in level 1 are all about remembering a few patterns. There are tiles that do not disappear at all, so try moving from one such tile to another.

Edit: If you haven't already done so, you can get an extra HC in the shovel minigame before attempting level 1. You can also buy a potion to help you. Potions are never necessary (while testing the quest I made a point to never use any potion) but they'll help if you're having trouble.

Edit 2: There is a not-so-grand total of 3 screens with disappearing tiles in level 1. Once you have the candle, you never have to go through the first screen again, since the candle unlocks a shortcut taking you to the same place. If it's the two later screens that are giving you trouble, you just have to repeatedly move from one tile to the next, it is a very linear path.

I'm gonna try it again. I give up easily, complain, and then usually go back and try to zen myself through it. Always gotta release my frustrations in order to put in more effort. I'd like to see more of the game because so far it's been totally glitch free, lazy dialogue free, and ugly graphics free. I like the Link sprite and how the graphics are reminiscent of the original LoZ, but incorporates LttP styles seamlessly. Plus, stuff like the monster soul collection is very unique. I just gotta muster up some patience, lol.

EDIT: Well, I got past that part and made it to the boss. Unfortunately, I have arachnophobia so it was kind of horrifying. I killed him though. Still might have nightmares...

I had to post again cuz that level 3 boss is uber mean. So many fireballs and no magic shield. Then I lose all my arrows and have to kill her with the wand. She's such a troll which I guess is why she's so ugly, lol. Still can't beat her... I suck though.

Get arrows then... x2 damage. That's boss is quite easy. If you find that the third boss is hard, you will have a hard time with the rest of this quest. But Promised Lands isn't a hard quest by any means. Practice, practice... and learn the patterns of the bosses.

You can have the magic shield by then, visit the merchant who used to say he had ordered new merchandise.

Oh snap, I didn't realize I could get the shield. I guess I'll go get it and come back. I thought about maybe looking for a shop that sells arrows, but I'm not crazy about the overworld. There's something weird about it that I can't put my finger on. When I'm done with a dungeon I just want the next one to be easy to find so I don't have to hang out in the overworld. The dungeons are really amazing, though, which is why I'm still playing. I usually would have totally given up by now because I have trouble not being bored by all games lately. Just curious, where did the idea for the evil mom with the old lady glasses come from? Somehow she reminds me of an obnoxious lady from Pokemon who smothered her Snubbull.

I think the only bosses I found really hard in this quest is the bird boss in the sky and the dude before the final boss.
The final boss isn't that hard once you know what to do.

This is actually the first quest I've played with non-standard Zelda bosses that are glitch free and not awkward. I quit other quests because of those annoying bosses that just summon monsters and warp you between identical rooms. That's not a boss fight to me. Plus, when you attack them there's often no indication that your attack is actually doing anything.

EDIT: zomg I got trolled! the magic shield doesn't block her fireballs! LOL

The dude before the final boss is super easy.

I haven't played that game. I made her look the way she does because I wanted to mess with the player's expectations, by giving her a rather unmenacing appearance... but the more you play and get to know her, the more you understand she's in fact dangerous. I enjoy surprises in video games, so this is one such small surprise I wanted to give the player.

I love when they have the one guy or gal you thought was the least of your worries, only for him/her to reveal to you he/she is the true villain. The other things I like are the face heel turns (good guys turning on you at the worst possible time) and heel face turns (when the bad guys fight with the good guys). Examples would be Kain from FFIV and Psaro from DQIV respectively. But it has to have good build up and not be something any moron can see happen a mile away. I really love when you are really savvy of a genre and expect something to play out a certain way, only for them to throw you off. In short, if it makes me say "Oh gee, didn't see that one coming...", that's poor build up.
