Legend Of Zelda: The Triforce Islands

What is "The Triforce Islands"

"The Triforce Islands" is a new quest created by me and it's going to be very open and non-linear making exploration fresh and open. There will be various custom items, such as the Halberd, throwing axe, spear and tons more, and there will be armory and items for defense.

The quest itself, plot-wise, is about uncovering the unsolved mysteries of the of the three islands that you'll explore in "The Triforce Islands". These islands hold many dark forces, so strengthen up yourself at any time or event by boosting your default abilities to having skills almost as powerful as a immortal.

Design is decent for GB, and the story is... generic. The the main thing going for this is the concept of leveling up and open exploration. However, how long will you have to fend off monsters with just one heart? Since getting killed in 1 or 2 hits from anything at the beginning is not cool. 3 or 4 hits would be about the limit I'd tolerate..

Also, don't let this one sink down like all the others you've started. This looks promising and it be a shame to see it fall.

Sounds fun. By "leveling up", do you mean you're scripting an RPG level system? If so, that will be awesome! What exactly would leveling up improve (ATK, DEF, HP, etc.)?

Your screens look pretty good, but the tall grass tiles being used in place of the general green ground looks a bit odd, especially with the bushes on top of it. Generally, I think that if you're going to use GB graphics, you should utilize things like grass the way that they were originally done. Still, the screens look really good. I'm hoping you're going to leave the spacebar map function enabled, though. Your overworld looks easy to get lost in.

Also, are you scripting the weapons like the throwing axe, or is it just a graphics change for the bow/arrows?

How in the world did you manage to post ahead of me? I swear, I clicked "Reply" and your post wasn't there! Stupid ninja.

The quest idea sounds neat. Screenshots are okay, too much grass and bushes, I know this is meant to be a lush forest as you stated on skype, but given the chanllange in this quest tall grass and bushes are easy resources for life, you call that challenging? But if you do want to add loads of grass and bushes please take a look at Orcale of Season's Natzu Prairie copying the style will improve the screens and such. I'm mainly putting out how they placed there trees, bushes, mountains etc.

EDIT: I used this screenshot and converted it to something that looks like the map I showed you here it is. icon_smile.gif

It's okay if you don't prefer mine, but if you do like mine you can use the shot if you want. icon_smile.gif I believe the way Nintendo handled there GB graphics is better then a cluttered multi-grass, tree etc. GB shot, any day.

BTW, I think this has lot's of potential, so don't cancel it please. icon_razz.gif

To be honest, I think Gouanaco's shots have better aesthetics than the ones you provided from Seasons. Then again, I never was too fond of Seasons.

Gouanaco, you've got some good s*** here. Almost reminds me of a Gameboy version of the original Swansong.

Looks promising. Hopfefully it wont be cancelled. It also looks like you're not so far in the quest, so I will check this topic again, some months later.

Also, "Isar: 7.5%", "Dungeons: 1.5%", "Armor: 3.75%"?
Seriously, how did you get these numbers? I think, its stupid, especially the 3.75%. You must have planned the Whole quest ahead, I guess? And you also must be a math genius!

And I like how you start with 1 heart only. But Link gets 2 heart containers in the beginning somewhere, right? If not, you should not place too many enemies. icon_biggrin.gif

Well in reply to all of your comments:

Avataro:

It's not going to be canceled i love this quest to much for it to be canceled. icon_smile.gif
The numbers are created by how much i have completed on it roughly.
Well at first its going to be really easy to get heart pieces then as you progress it will become more harder (You may not even have heart pieces it might become a stat?)

Shane:
I understand that you like GB and cutting down on bushes and grass is a good idea (i will look into that)
but i have my style of GB that i like to do but i might change it into a full GB style quest in the future if it looks better. icon_smile.gif
I also want the maps to be as natural as they can.

kurt91:

I may script a leveling and stat system but i have other ideas as well I'm still working on that bit (but there will defiantly be a way to level up!) icon_smile.gif With the stats if there are going to be some it may be STR, DEX, INT, WIS, (maybe others?)
Yes i probably will still ad in the map function.
There will still be a bow but i probably will copy the details of the bow/arrow and convert them into Throwing Axes.

Orin XD:
Well as i explained to Avataro the heart pieces will be easy to get at first and harder later on or (there will be a stat system)
It wont fall It's to good to fall.icon_smile.gif

Okay Guys Im now Starting to work on this again...
Ive added a few screen shots but the sub-screen looks abit funny (im still working on that)

Any feedback would be good, hopefully i can stick to this one...
If anyone has any suggestions for weapons or armor etc just PM or Reply...
Plus im looking for people to do some small jobs like a screen idea or something like that...
Um so yeah getting back into making this one lots of weapons and armor so that will be fun and i have a Question for everyone:

Should there still be heart pieces or
Should i turn it into a 1/4 experience bar or
Should i try and add both (Maybe abit difficult)

Updated the screen shots and fixed the sub-screen problem...

Also even though it says all those things in the features i may be only able to add some of them but i will defiantly try to anyway...

+ I need answers to my question in my previous post...

Nah i really need magic
but maybe i should not have exp but heart pieces can stay and as you defeat monsters you gain there powers like

Weak monster= A heart
Moderate Monster= A Fairy
Strong Monster= A Heart Piece
Boss Monster= A Heart Container

but you dont get eart pieces all the time except when you first start of its easy to get them but not too easy.
