I enjoyed the game and it is very difficult, but what brought it down for me was the block puzzles though. If I solve a block puzzle once, great. I shouldn't have to redo it Every Single Time I want to get through the room. If the block puzzles were simple that would be fine, but they are far from it I think it could benefit from some 2.5 Screenstate saving so the puzzles only need done once.

My current frustration is with some of the courses where you have to flip the switch and go through the timed spike mazes.  Frustrating past the point of fun, and if you fail, you backtrack big time before you get another attempt.  I managed one in the Sewers and one in the Barracks, but the first one you encounter in the Royal Courthouse has me about ready to give up.  This game has so much potential but it needs to be toned down a bit.

I am stuck and seem to need either the arrows or the stepladder to move forward.  Hint as to the location of either?  I did make it past the spike puzzle in question and now I have the wand.  There was a reference earlier in the thread to the arrows being easy to find but so far they've eluded me.

The arrows are in the first room at the left of the entrance of the royal chambers, although you need a key and to look for the entrance of that room. The stepladder is at the right area of the sewers, and you also need a key, a bombed wall and a switch activated to go to it. I recomend you to get as soon as posible de blue suit, and you need the first two items of each dungeon to get to it. Once you have it the dungeons will be much easier to explore.

Thanks.  I did find the stepladder after posting.  I'm kind of fascinated with this quest despite a lot of frustration.

No chances! I would like to give those spikes insta-death power!

My main issue is that I need to find one more key in the Chambers.  I've been stuck on five hearts FOREVER.  I want to get a couple more so bad so I can get the second sword.  The 2nd sword and the blue ring would make exploration so much less punishing, especially with the limited saves.

Again, this is a hard and often frustrating quest, but for some reason I am simply fascinated by it and determined to press on despite my difficulties.

To get the arrow and bow you need one key for each item. The two first keys are at the down right side of the second floor, one is clearly showed and the other one hidden. You can get the third key once you reach the garden where the bow is located, but i wouldn´t recomend that (you have to kill a room full of polls voice).

You can get the first four heart containers beating the first bosses without looking very deep in each dungeon, if you need to find one just ask. Nice to see you´re enjoying the game, I know it ended up much harder than I expected :/

My exploration difficulties have all stemmed from the fact that I was missing a couple bombable walls.  It's that simple.  I've since found them and I now have both the 2nd sword and the blue ring.  Exploration should be a lot easier now in terms of not dying all the time.  I still wish there were a few more save pods on the walls.

Edit:  Doing well.  Just need to find the Mirror shield in the courthouse so I can get the red mail.  I've got the 3rd sword.  I'll soon be tackling the main bosses.  This quest has it's strengths and weaknesses but some of the better design points are as brilliant as any quest I've played.  There are some amazing puzzles.  Everyone who likes a challenge and likes puzzles and big levels should give this a go.

How do I beat the boss of the Barracks?  The giant ghost head flashes red when I hit it with the sword but I can't figure anything else out.

NVM -- Disregard please

Edit:  Finally beat it.  Amazingly overlooked quest.  One of the best I've played despite some frustrating aspects.
