I saw some prank calls threads, but they all were dead topics. So, I made a new one.

Basically, have you ever been prank called or done a prank call?

I've never gotten prank called, but I have given one.

This happened at my school last year. There's a chain of restaurants known as Cici's Pizza. It was between classes, so me, two other guys, and a girl were hanging out in the school's hallway. We were discussing prank calls, and the girl suggested we call Cici's Pizza and try to order a hot dog. So, good ole' Will Tso steps up to do it. He calls the place, and, after the trademark "Thank you for calling Cici's Pizza. How may we help you?" he begins to say "Yeah I want a - " then breaks off laughing. He couldn't do it. So he hung up. The last day of school was a coupla days later. We were on our way to a bowling alley, so I decided to take the challenge.

"Thank you for calling Cici's Pizza. How may we help you?"

"Yeah, I'd like a hot dog."

"Uh, this is a pizza place."

"Is this not Cici's Pizza?! I WANT A FREAKING HOT DOG!!!!"

*hangs up*



Actually, I'm not sure whether they actually hung up or not, cuz my cell phone said they were still connected. Maybe he cracked up, I dunno. I hung up anyways.

I've never actually done a prank call, but I mess with telemarketers all the time.

"Good afternoon, I was wondering if you'd be interested in taking our survey."

"Ooh, sorry, but I'm not 18 yet."

"Is your father home?"

"I... I don't have a father!" *sniffle and hang up*

I love the prank responses to telemarketers. Here's one direct from the bash quote.

I've never made a prank call, but my 2 friends make them all the time. Here are some that they have told me about.

Person: Hello?
JP: Domino's Pizza! How can I help you?
Person: Wait... you called me?
JP: Sir! You called us! Stop smoking that crack and call us back later! *hangup*

Person: Hello?
JP: You little slut! You've been cheating on me the whole time with that skank Jessica haven't you? Don't try to lie to me! I have witnesses!
Person: OH SHI- *hangup*

Person: Hello?
JP: Umm... JAMES! PLAY! *holds phone up to James's guitar*
James: *plays guitar into the phone*
JP: Thank you for using our automated music system. Goodbye. *hangup*

Person: *calls back*
Person: Was some kid just playing a guitar into my phone?
JP: Domino's Pizza! How can I help you?
Person: Don't pull that **** with me, kid.
JP: Sir! Stop smoking that crack and call us back later! *hangup*

My favorite regarding dealing with telemarketers is based off of a Seinfeld episode.

Telemarketer: Hello, would you be interested in .....?

You: I'm sorry, I am busy right now. Can you leave me your name and home phone number so I can call you back.

Telemarketer: I really can't do that.

You: So you don't like people calling you at home?

Telemarketer: Yes.

You: Well now you know how I feel. (click)

I am not into prank calls, but I am all for countering telemarketers.

Once at someone house we did a bunch of prank phone calls.

One of my friends called someone it was just there machine, a woman's voice was on the machine. He left a message saying something like "hey baby you left your g-string in my car".

I called someone and started coughing (not on purpose) and said something like "ack I'm dieing!"

I know this sounds miserable, but prank calls aren't funny, if they're initiated by the prankster.

However, I think if some telemarketer cold calls you, it is then funny to prank response them. I'm with GoldenChocobo, ShadowTiger and Nathaniel on these. Cold calling should be made illegal.

Well that was kind of a nothing reply to a thread that can now be considered legally an adult in America but anyway I have long grown out of the idea of prank calling strangers. Especially restaurants, it just makes what's already probably a miserable job for the recipient even worse. Now if it's a hotline run by fascists trying to ruin others' lives, by all means, tie up their phone lines with nonsense. And sure, fucking around with scam callers is warranted, although I personally just hang up and not risk them recording my voice for nefarious purposes.

I used to do hella prank calls, even recorded some of them. Thankfully, they are all lost media now.
