Hello,
Awesome game! A lot harder than I thought it would be to complete. Six hours into the game and I'm still stuck on level one!
Would someone be kind enough to point me toward the location of the ladder. I think I have wandered around for a few hours now.

Have you found all three entrances? I haven't played it in a long time but I think you can get to the ladder from the left entrance.

Thanks for the reply. I have found all three entrances and another post mentioned a hint about the left entrance. I keep heading back there, but I must not have triggered a specific event. I will keep trying. Maybe I am just missing something else.

Let's see if I can remember. Make sure you find a skulltula first. Give it to the ranger (guy in the cave) and bomb the north wall. I think there's a switch or something to help you get further on the left side. If I'm right, you don't get the ladder until nearing the end.
I remember something else. Do you have the hookshot? To get that, go to the room where you can see it, and walk behind one of the tall candles/torches to find a secret.

Thanks for the help everyone. I didn't realize what the hookshot was really used for in the game. Once I figured that out (by accident) everything else fell into place. Finally beat level 1.
