I have a question about Vargen's First Quest Improved, although I think that I did this before (one of the screen shots looks familiar). Some others have questions as well:

I am in the lost woods, but i can't find the entrance to level 2. Where exactly is it, have i to do something special?

Relax, Level 2 is directly east from where Link started. Once you find a hollow tree trunk, you are there.

I'm in level 2 and can't find a way to get up past the bottom of the 'bottle' in the level. I've been to each screen on the map in the large bottom half, and one room up from there in the middle (with the traps). How do I progress from here? I can't seem to bomb anywhere in that screen or the others I have tried.

I've got the boomerang, bow/arrow, bombs, blue candle, bait, mushroom, and raft. Do I need anything else?

If memory serves me correctly, there is a passageway in the room with the traps. Just find a pushable block.

Level 3...White Sword...Magic Shield...Blue Mail...where?

Did you remember the arrow directions given to you in Level 2? An old man living nearby Level 2 advises you to read the direction "set in stone"-stone blocks, that is. With these directions, you should be able to go through Lost Woods and reach Level 3.

The White Sword requires the Blue Candle to reach the cave holding it. Look along the lake in the North Hyrule until you find a bush or two on the edge of the screen, blocking a one-tile wide path that runs along the edge of the lake. Burn the bushes, and you should find the cave with the White Sword. Keep in mind that the cave itself is guarded by a Blue Lynel (taking the form of a blue wizzard of some sort-not Wizzrobe) armed to the teeth. You might want a Boomerang and a Magic Shield before you try to tackle this foe.

Speaking of which, you will find the Magic Shield sold at various shops throughout the land. Just look for caves with shops inside and you will likely find a shop.

The Blue Mail can be purchased at a high price (250 rupees) in a shop blocked off by an old, leafless tree in the Dead Woods. Just burn this tree, and the path to the exclusive shop is paved.

My personal question is about Level 4. I found the map, compass, and a couple keys and have traveled up the stem of the "note" until I found a room with a triforce design on the floor and a shutter that will not open. I found a room east of this by bombing through, but have found nothing else. How do I proceed?

Edit:Never mind Level 4. I solved it.
