*cringe*

This is the worst. Any serious puzzle should have to be solved only once. You've already proven your ability to solve the puzzle; why must the tedium continue?

Because it "makes the quest more difficult". Sorry, repetition does not equate to challenge.

But another thing that really shouldn't exist are "Touhou Rooms". That's the best idea ever *sarcasm*. I think it's safe to say a lot of people do NOT like the idea of mandatory damage taken as in many quests, every little bit adds up.

Heh, I pretty much agree with all of the above. Especially a room full of peahats. Those rooms can be SO ANNOYING, in my opinion.

Peahats in general shouldn't exist.

In my quest you have to kill peahats to get golden feathers. Optional, but rewarding. >:D

Eh, I'm guilty of a couple rooms where you have to kill like 2 peahats in addition to other enemies. The problem is, there's a couple rooms absolutely swarming with peahats with one-way shutters, and players seem to assume you have to kill them all ...  Come on, I would never do that to you!

-hiding items under Armos

-walkable DMap edges

-Gleeoks with ridiculous numbers of heads

Smallpox. The world would be a lot cooler and better off.

Wait is this just ZC? Overworlds that are thrown together quickly. I can't stand that. To me overworlds are the best part of a quest.

I partially agree with you.

Done well, block puzzles can be a nice, simple puzzle to challenge the player in even NES-style quests.

Done poorly, they can be overly frustrating, totally overdone, or force the player to beat them every time you come across them. BAH!

Even more unpopular opinion time!

Mirrored (default) right slash. It makes it impossible to hit down-right from your location without the spin attack. And all so you don't have to make a couple of right-facing sprites.

INB4 flipped right slash rants

Flipped slash. :P

Mirrored slash is a problem, but flipped slash is just trying to fix a problem with another problem. What we really need is LttP slash.

In after flipped slash rants.

A way I did to rectify this problem is to have enemies almost always drop hearts or fairies.

I like shops that sell money if they are well hidden and the seller admits that the products are counterfeits.

Killgating, one of the cardinal sins of the gaming industry.

Preventing a player from doing something they are not supposed to by outright killing them, usually done as a lazy way to enforce linearity, is almost without exception an awful design choice, both in ZC and the gaming industry in general. This is because the player has no chance to realize what they have done was wrong before the game gives them the big middle finger up and kills them.

Edit: Related to that subject, instakill enemies and spikes are also really bad. Link's Quest for the Hookshot is VERY guilty of this with Moosh's Deathbo spamming in the Dark World. There are also a few other examples in quests, but LQftH is the biggest offender by far here IIRC.
