I could probably make you a nice palette. I'll have to see.

Edit: It seems ImageShack doesn't want to work. It's giving me a 403.

Hows this?

Here's what I whipped up.. It's palette #40. Play around with it, ask questions if ya like, etc.

If you don't like it, I won't be offended. I'm kinda rusty, anyway.

Seems like Sepulcher wants to set ya up with something too so, there ya go. icon_smile.gif

Enjoy.

When you say plan out, you are talking about the plot correct?

You can have the basic plot planned out and do the details when you reach that area.

About maps, you can plan them in many ways. I started out my quest by picking a spot on the map (not exact center or a corner, BTW) and placing the rest of the map as I went along. However, my quest takes place in a bunch of islands, not Hyrule.
If you're going for Hyrule, you should at least have a general idea of what areas you will have and where/what direction from the starting/central area they are going to be placed. It helps if you write down a list of things you definitely want in your quest, add to that list as you think of them, and make sure you have enough space for each one.

Really, it all boils down to what your quest is about. There's really not one set way of doing things. Different types of quests may have different methods of building/creating them.

^ thanks Lightwulf ^_^

KK NOW
I was experimenting with walkable transparent water
IPB Image
Also added over head trees and a water fall.

Pro about this is it leaves out having to have some transparent water and some not (having water where u would normally swim/not be)

Con is this takes up both layer 1 and 2, making it hard to have extra details (unless ud be willing to add the right ground to the titles thats normally for layering, which would be annoying to do) If there was 1 extra under link layer, this would be flawless in a way.
NOT really a con, cant see links feet (dont bother me at all tho)

over all looks cool and its neat.

My cliffs kinda look weird tho, I think I got the perspective wrong :\
I could be wrong tho?

Any tips on how I can make this look a bit more nice would be great icon_smile.gif

The plot in my opinion is what I build for. I'll have so much fun building a certain sequence, and then it will be boring when I have to build others. I'll tell ya this though, you seem to have got a lot better at this program that I will ever hope to be in a short amount of time. Don't be discouraged, these shots are amazing. My first quest was... well, lets just say its never seeing the light of day again

I think it looks pretty neat, makes it have a depths feel, a good example to compare it to would be water at a beat I guess.
Beater or should I still cover it in water?

OK HERE is an experiment I been doing.

Trying to make a map of being on top of the tree tops.

SO FAR it turned out better then I though.

I needed to make quite a few custom sprites to help make things work.
Had an issue with everything being walkable, so I made the small small trees a solid instead of none , dont see why not.

Current issues:
The tree stumps coming up look nice BUT the bottom dont look don't work and there's nothing i can do about it atm,
all under layers are in use and dont be usable to help.

SO if anyone can help make a sprite that could possible match, would be great!

Also adding details can be an issue again due to layers being in use.

ALSO shadows are an issue also cuz again, layers!
SO for now i'll keep it a dark map and see if I can work around the shadow thing.

Tips, suggestions plz!!
thanks!

Brain!!! Hahaha

Anyway, it's a good screen. The dirt path adds more depth but I still feel like something is missing... perhaps bushes or 2x2 trees, may just be me.

EDIT: Whoa, you put up another shot while I typed that response. Lemme take a gander real quick!

EDIT 2: My god man, that's actually a really good idea... I don't think I've seen this before! It could obviously use some work... but I see it looking beautiful in no time

Wish I could be more of use, but I'm still living in the past of ZC. 1.90-2.10 really, but I know how the later builds work. You may have to do some drawing yourself to make those trees look right... it's hard to tell, I've always used simpler and more customized tilesets. Perhaps you could screenshot that screen and then rip the tiles? I'd hate to see such an idea go to waste >_>
