That's because the emulator is built into the ROM.

That's true, but I always wondered why there wasn't just one emulator, that plays all NES games, instead of packing an emulator with each game. How hard can it be* to optimize an NES emulator on technology that is 25 years newer? :P

*the dumbest question to ask when it comes to programming/ porting.

I see myself getting the Switch in the future but not at launch. Breath of the Wild will be on Wii U as well and I'll likely preorder it on there.

*rises out of posting grave*

They're localizing Puyo Tetris for the Switch!  That's......good news?  But I'm not getting a Switch just for that, lol.

I'm gonna wait a month or two before i decide to buy this thing. I pretty much have the "no pre-ordering anything, ever" rule, regardless if i like the company or not.

Thank you for doing the right thing. I feel dirty. I don't think I'm going to get over this any time soon...

What about multi-cart games? There were 2-disc games on GameCube. I'd be fine with multiplayer modes on the second cart or even a game with the latter half on the second cart.

There's no reason not to just have a larger capacity card for games like that.

Those are some expensive ass controllers. Maybe i can get a Pro controller on Ebay for less than that price, but yeesh.

I misheard someone and thought the card limit was 32GB

I think the new edition of Street Fighter II looks great, Street Fighter II through Alpha 2 Gold is such a fantastic series of updated games, and I've never been able to get into other fighting games to this degree at all. Mortal Kombat is too stiff (at least the early games) and I just don't understand Smash at all.

The approach their taking allows them to implement game specific hacks/optimizations in to the emulator. Also, don't forget the Switch has a USB-C connector (for charging), presumably you can also connect a external HDD to it?

Based on screenshots, the dock itself sports two USB slots, not that those will be any useful undocked. Interesting thought about using the type-c for hard drives though...

So ya'll know how Sony and Microsoft tend to copy Nintendo's gimmicks, right?

[2:58 AM] Tempest: how long until we get a game full of Move controller minigames that you can play with other people without looking at the TV
[2:58 AM] The Satellite: and it'll be called 3-2-1 Move

Wait, so, can someone explain to me why the Wii U pro controllers can't work with this? Glad I didn't end up ever buying one. :P The controller prices are pretty outrageous, but on the upside, those prices will only go down, I hope, in the coming years.

Why is it Europe always gets screwed on Nintendo console pricing? The Switch will launch here for £279 which is more expensive than a PS4 Slim or an Xbone S with 1-2 bundled games.

Hell, its even around £100 expensive than the shield console, which has the same specs and can output at 4k, guess it doesn't have New Gen Nintendo games though...
