Typing while realizing that you're making mistakes but not caring that you're making mistakes is what irks me. If you don't care how you type, how does anyone know if you care what you type?

A good point. I also wonder if the reason people make so many mistakes is because they don't look at the computer screen as they type; instead they look at their fingers. And then that leads me to wonder why on earth they wouldn't bother to read over what they've typed... I mean you'd think that if a person knew how to read, they'd find mistakes and correct them if they reread things before posting.

Heh, you may understand what you're saying, but to someone else... eh. It's like decoding some sorta message. Something that I don't have time/patience for.

OR they could always use firefox, which has a handy dandy spell checker.

But does it have a grammar checker? icon_eek.gif

(That's kinda' a serious question, 'cause I don't use FireFox...)

No, not a grammar checker.
[though that would be pretty handy... maybe they'll include it in the next update.]

But see, rules of grammar can be easy to remember. They're simple.
Example: then/than.
Than, a conjunction, is used to compare things. [more than, less than, better than]
Then, an adverb, is used with descriptions of time.

You're-- a contraction [combination] of the words you and are.
Your-- possessive.

They're-- another contraction of the words they and are
There-- location
Their-- possessive.

Well, yeah... I know that, and You know that, but THE AMERICAN PEOPLE do not know it!!

And I was just pointing out that a "spell checker" isn't going to help their grammar.

I know. But it's good for people who forget to use apostrophes on words such as 'don't' and 'won't', etc.
Or that spell 'their' like 'thier' or 'weird' as 'wierd'.
Meh.

What was it... I before E, except after C... then something like, except when pronounced like A, as in neighbor and weigh. I think. icon_shrug.gif

The American people need to be re-educated!
We will go out and teach them how to use grammar-- the right way!

Damn straight!

You start... I'll back you up.
(and while doing so, I'll end my sentance with a preposition, braking grammatical code and ultimately proving my disworth in the battle for grammatical justice. icon_freak.gif )

Get Wild Bill to write a forum wildbillbot that replies to each topic with such mistskes in them, highlights the misspelled words and suggests the correct ones icon_razz.gif

Other than that, I totally agree with you but I don't see anything anyone can do.

We could make poor grammar against the rules and ban all offenders. icon_twisted.gif

Not that I'm really suggesting that...

No way, that's even worse! At least people who can't spell are trying!

There's spelling mistakes and there's typos, then there are true grammatical errors. I lost count of the time I corrected a "teh" to a "the" in my posts, these things do happen. "Your" and "you're" however it's hard to mistake by accident.
