I have insomnia, and my doctor said that you shouldn't use the computer or play video games an hour before you go to sleep. That has a MAJOR influence on the population with going to sleep these days. That's why overtime network technicians sometimes have insomnia.

I'm an insomniac when I'm with my friends... it's seriously hard to sleep with all the action, the Wii, the Mountain Dews, the Wii, oh, did I mention the Wii? I end up staying up all night playing it or Josh does.

MW, maybe you have to much sugar in your system (not the Wii of course ) Or maybe theres just too much action going on and you don't wanna miss out.

If I'm with friends I won't sleep at all. I get excited from hanging out and end up staying much later then they do.

QUOTE
I've tried writing, reading, music, playing video games until my eyes go bulgy, walking around my house, eating, drinking. Nothing really works except staying awake until my body forces myself to sleep.
Have you tried turning off all computers/TV/... at least an hour before you want to go to sleep, then lie down and try and do ... nothing at all. It's probably a slightly boring thing to do but it might allow you to slowly calm down and get ready to fall asleep. Maybe you're too focused on doing things to find the opportunity to fall asleep.
If you're room is not sufficiently dark you could try buying one of those eye-masks. Whether complete blackness will help going to sleep or not varies from person to person.
I find a hot bath helps me to relax before I go to sleep.

The reason that playing video games or being on the PC interferes with sleep is because the light put out by your TV and monitor is very close to sunlight in terms of wavelength, etc. This fools your body into thinking its daytime and not sleeptime. So, turn everything off, and then read a book or something before going to bed.

Well, for me, the TV and computer actually make me more tired at night I've heard about it among some people.

My dad can fall asleep by the computer - he does every time he's surfin' the net.
But the best time was when he fell asleep playing Microprose Grand Prix. He did a 100% race on easy mode. He was so far ahead that he fell asleep, woke up 5 mins. later with the nose of the car scraping across a barrier... and was still in front!

Tried that a couple times, ended up laying in my bed for a number of hours and gave up. Baths just make tired in the bath but when I get out to go to bed I'm even more awake then before for some reason. Maybe I should fall asleep in a bath.

Parents wouldn't let me. They make me get up at 10 in the morning every day.
