Hi everyone! As we head into the final week of Screenshot of the Year 2023, we would like to unveil some changes and news around community events for 2024.

Screenshot of the Week 2024 Changes and Feedback
After a hiatus in 2022, Screenshot of the Week returned with a bang in 2023. There were 34 contests held through 2023, with the contest beginning on a fortnightly schedule before shifting to weekly at the end of May. If you submitted a shot, thank you! It was great to receive such a diverse array of screenshots throughout the year.

While interest and participation in the contests started strongly, it waned as the year went on for many reasons; but the contest struggled particularly in November and December. I would like to thank Architect Abdiel, Joelmacool and Twilight Knight for regularly submitting shots throughout 2023, but especially toward the end of the year as well. Without at least two of the aforementioned three submitting each week between November and December, the contests would not have gone ahead.

As a result, Screenshot of the Week will revert to a fortnightly format for 2024, with Screenshot of the Week 807 commencing on February 5. Because of this change, Screenshot of the Month will return to a bi-monthly format as well.

We would also love to hear your feedback on what worked (and what didn't!) with Screenshot of the Week 2023, as well as what you think would be a good incentive to submit your shots - beyond being on the PureZC homepage, that is! Feel free to either post it in this thread, or message me directly either on the forums or via Discord.

Screen Rebirth Changes
As previously highlighted by Mitchfork, the rebooted Screen Rebirth has been dormant since August for various reasons. Following his decision to step down last month, I have volunteered to take up running Screen Rebirth during 2024. I would personally like to thank both Mitch and Zack (Professor Bedwetter/Huge Bedwetter) for their involvement in bringing Screen Rebirth back last year, and hope I do well in carrying on their legacy.

As such, Screen Rebirth will occur once a month. Similarly to how Mitch and Zack ran it, two weeks will be allotted for screen creation, while two weeks will be allotted for the poll to run. The screen for Screen Rebirth 7 will be posted on February 12, with the contest taking place two weeks later on February 26.

Put simply, Screen Rebirth will take place on the weeks that Screenshot of the Week isn't running - every other week, basically.

Superlatives Changes
As mentioned last year, we will be looking to shift from the traditional Superlatives format and instead reflect on the year that was for PureZC's community in the form of a showcase. More details will be announced in the coming weeks, but expect this sooner rather than later as we are already nearly into February!

Discord Integration for Contest Submissions
Over the past year, we have utilised the PureZC Discord server to announce events on a frequent basis. Recently, discussions have been held by staff around setting up a Discord dropbox as an alternate submission place for contests like Screenshot of the Week, Screen Rebirth and Map of the Month. If there is enough interest for it, we will be looking to integrate this into the Discord server in due time There is now a submission dropbox on the PureZC server, effective immediately!

Thank you for reading through this, and thanks for being here. I will post the schedule for Screenshot of the Week and Screen Rebirth in the coming days - if you have any other questions or feedback to give, please let us know!

Discord dropboxes would be based honestly. I am very much for this.

It's weird but I think Discord dropboxes may be a great solution for more participation. I'm the type that always chooses to submit last minute, so the hassle of jumping through all those hoops to host an image on the forum compared to just dropping in a file on Discord could be make or break for some, including me tbh

Based on these two replies alone, we've gone ahead and made a dropbox channel on the PureZC Discord server. It's accessible for anyone on the server as of now. :)
