Hello fellow humans. I am back from a long absence. Long story short, I started working. As you may know, I started a quest called, "Heroes Story". Sad to say, it will no longer be worked on, cause of a new quest I am making called, "Heroes Story". That's right! You may be confused, but it's okay. I spent a good month or two actually planning this whole game out, story and everything. That was my problem. I didn't know what to do with the other one. But this one, I don't plan on quitting on. Full story, every area, every item, it's all planned out. But there is a catch. It's a game going chapter by chapter. Meaning "timed events." As in, new areas open up, (bridge being finished), side quest come and go meaning you can miss out on a chance for special items, or random events.
What are your thoughts about this?
And do you have any other ideas I could probably use as "timed events"?
(Every chapter ends after a major story accomplishment, and there are a lot of them.)

I'm all for chapters like Paper Mario or Mother 3, but I'm not a fan of the missable item/ event design.

So cut the missing items and events? And yeah, paper Mario is sorta of what I was going for. Even has a similar Chapter transition. Lol
So what things could happen when a chapter ends? All I got is fixing a bridge and maybe a road block of some sort.

I sort of did this with an old quest. It's in my demos if you'd like to play it and see what I mean. I just put a title for the "chapter", and would eventually make it go along after every temple, so it progresses normally.

Buildings in a main (hub?) town could open up - shops could get new wares, etc, etc. Also, I am a fan of getting new stuff in places that I've already been (like if you get a new item or even a new story in chapter 3's location if you go back during - or as a part of, depending on your story - chapter 7, for example). Makes the world seem a little less segmented.
By the way, I'm not 100% sure how all of these would be implemented, but I'm pretty sure it's all possible.
