Edit^2: Thanks for dealing with my stupidity.
Greetings from a very long hiatus! In my perpetual state of "What should I use to design my next project of the week?" I realized I haven't checked out the progress of ZC2.5 and came back to check on it. About 300 or so Build Numbers past what it was when I left, I believe.
So, I redownloaded 2.10 as well as Windows build 635. Oh, also Vista home edition for what it matters. I fiddled around with it a bit; found the new Item and Enemy parts interesting, saw the Subscreen Editor was still pretty neat, realized I hated the save-every-five minutes feature and promptly disabled it... Had a nice time. At least, that is, until I decided to take a crack at item editing.
I searched this place and AGN, but didn't find anything similar to my query. Hopefully it isn't my own stupidity either. In any case, I find myself practically unable to edit items in any practical manner. I go to Quest>Items and pick an item such as Sword 1 (Wooden Sword). I assume this is the Item Editor. In any case, in the Data tab I can't change the Damage and Beam Damage; both are grayed out. Over in the Action tab, I can't change any of the sprites besides the one grayed out category, the Beam Sprite.
I then decide to try and make my own Swords-class object. Go down to x123, make it a Swords class, click on the all the check marks on the Data Tab, make it Level 2 for the heck of it... Damage and Beam Damage is still grayed out. Action's the same way as well.
In a few screen shots of earlier Builds it looked like the Item Editor was up and running. Why does this one seem to be extremely limited? Is there just something I'm totally missing?
And on a different note... From cruising these forums and such a bit it seems blatantly obvious that, while a few of these Builds and Betas are stable, for the most part they shouldn't be used for Quest creation. That leaves 2.10 as the most recent and hopefully stable build. Is there some more recent stable build that's been the default the community has been using? Also, how much work do you expect to be transferable to the finished 2.5 product? I would really imagine that pretty much everything could be imported, but if someone else knows otherwise...
In closing, thanks for any help you're able to provide. I apologize if my questions are noobish or commonly asked (although I think I checked around enough to make sure they aren't the latter). Oh, and I also apologize if this is in the wrong section... I figured the General discussion would be the best place.
